Narrative
UPON LNDG AT CLE (AFTER DEPARTING ROC 1:24 MINS EARLIER) A PHONE CALL WAS WAITING FOR THE CAPT FROM OUR COMPANY'S DIRECTOR OF OPS IN HOUSTON. HE WAS TOLD THAT AN FAA EMPLOYEE ON THE GND SOMEWHERE AT THE APCH AREA OF RWY 22 WATCHED OUR TKOF AND ACCUSED OUR FLT OF BEING OPERATED IN A DANGEROUS AND RECKLESS MANNER. HE SAID ALL HE COULD SEE OF OUR ACFT AFTER A LONG TKOF ROLL IN WHICH WE SUPPOSEDLY 'HELD THE ACFT DOWN' PAST VR; WAS THE TOP SURFACE OF THE ACFT IN A VERY STEEP MANNER OF CLB. FROM OUR COCKPIT; THE ACTUAL TKOF WAS RELEASING BRAKES AS PWR WAS PUSHED UP TO 92.5 PERCENT TORQUE; ROLL UNTIL VR WAS CALLED; ROTATE SMOOTHLY TO 12-15 DEGS (COMMAND BARS); POSITIVE CLB/GEAR UP; AND CLB AT V2 TO V2 PLUS 10 UNTIL 500 FT AGL; THEN PITCH UNTIL 8 DEGS TO ACCELERATE TO VO FOR FLAP RETRACTION. IT WAS VERY IRRITATING TO HEAR THAT WE WERE BEING SUBJECTED TO AN IMPROMPTU INVESTIGATION INITIATED BY SOMEONE AT A VIEWPOINT THAT DIDN'T ALLOW A TRUE ANALYSIS OF A ROUTINE TKOF. BESIDES; WHAT PLT WOULD BE DUMB ENOUGH TO PERFORM ILLEGAL AEROBATICS OR STUNTING WITH SEVERAL DOZEN EYEWITNESSES A FEW YARDS IN BACK OF HIM? I SHOULD ADD; THE ACFT WAS AT ABOUT 32000 LBS (36825 IS MAX) AND THERE WAS A HEADWIND OF 10-15 KTS. OUR CLB RATE WAS SLIGHTLY IN EXCESS OF 2000 FPM.
