AN ACR MLG CREW RPTS A JET FUEL SPILL. THEY MAY HAVE FAILED TO CALL FOR TAXI CLRNC IN THE HEAT OF THE SIT.
Narrative
I WAS INFORMED THAT FUEL WAS SPILLING. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF FUEL PUMPS AND HAD FO BE SURE THAT FIRE DEPT WAS CALLED. A MALFUNCTION OF THE ACFT HAD ALLOWED THE FUEL IN THE L WING TO TRANSFER INTO THE R WING AND VENT OVERBOARD. NO PAX ON BOARD AND TOTAL SPILL APPROX 80 GALLONS OF WHICH SOME WENT DOWN A DRAIN. THE ACFT WAS REPAIRED -- BOARDED FOR FLT AND I GOT A NEW RELEASE. I COORDINATED WITH THE FIRE CAPT AND A LCL ENVIRONMENTAL REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE WE DEPARTED. WE WERE CLRED TO PUSH AND LEFT THE GATE. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE TO ME AFTER WE LEFT THE GATE THROUGH DEP. ONCE WE WERE ABOVE 10000 FT; THE FO EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT WE MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CLRED TO TAXI OR THAT HE COULD NOT REMEMBER BEING CLRED TO TAXI AFTER LNDG; I CALLED BACK TO GREEN BAY TWR TO SEE IF WE HAD OMITTED A CALL TO TAXI. THE CTLRS HAD CHANGED SHIFTS SO I SIMPLY EXPLAINED WHY I CALLED AND ASKED FOR A MESSAGE TO BE LEFT FOR THE CTLR AT THE TIME. I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT WE WERE CLRED BECAUSE I NORMALLY DO NOT TURN ON A TAXI LIGHT UNTIL WE ARE CLRED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 257249: I QUICKLY SHUT OFF THE FUEL PUMP AND THE LEAK STOPPED. THE FIRE DEPT RESPONDED AND THE PROB WAS RESOLVED. AN OFF DUTY MECH CHKED THE SYS OUT AND SIGNED IT OFF FOR FLT. IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE FLT OUT WITH MINIMAL DELAY. THE CAPT AND I WERE RUSHED DOING THE CHKLISTS AND GETTING CLRNCS FROM THE FIRE DEPT; ACR OPS; MAINT AND THE GND CREW. I CALLED GREEN BAY GND CTL FOR PUSH CLRNC (OPTIONAL CALL) AND WAS TOLD TO PUSH; START; AND EXPECT TO TAXI TO RWY 18 FOR DEP. WE COMPLETED ALL OUR CHKLISTS AND TAXIED TO RWY 18. JUST PRIOR TO SWITCHING TO TWR FREQ; I GOT A FEELING THAT; IN ALL THE CHAOS AND CONFUSION PRIOR TO TAXIING; THAT I WASN'T POSITIVE THAT I HAD INDEED SPECIFICALLY CALLED FOR TAXI CLRNC. I ASKED THE CAPT AND HE SAID HE WAS BUSY AND WASN'T POSITIVE BUT HE BELIEVED I DID.
