Narrative
I MADE THE DECISION TO INCREASE THE FUEL LOAD 1000 LBS. THIS BROUGHT OUR GROSS TKOF WT TO WITHIN APPROX 1000 LBS OF MAX FOR THE 5700 FT RWY. BOTH ENGS WERE STARTED DURING PUSHBACK. AFTER A BRIEF HOLDING DELAY; WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF. THE FMC TKOF PWR SETTING FOR A NO BLEEDS TKOF FLAPS 15 DEGS WAS SET; THEN BRAKES RELEASED. AT 1000 FT; FLAPS 5 DEGS WAS CALLED FOR. THE FO SELECTED FLAPS 5 DEGS; THEN RPTED THAT A RED EGT WARNING LIGHT; R ENG; WAS ILLUMINATED. THE TEMP READ 960 DEGS C. THE R THROTTLE WAS RETARDED A SLIGHT AMOUNT UNTIL THE LIGHT EXTINGUISHED. THE FLAPS WERE RETRACTED AND N1 PWR SET. THE AFTER TKOF CHKLIST WAS COMPLETED. THE ABNORMAL CHKLIST IN THE PLT HANDBOOK CONCERNING THE ENG ABNORMAL WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND A LOGBOOK NOTATION ENTERED. (960 DEGS C FOR APPROX 5 SECONDS). THE FLT CONTINUED NORMALLY FOR THE APPROX 4 HR LEG TO PIT. REVERSER OP WAS NORMAL ON LNDG; AS WERE ALL OTHER PHASES OF THE FLT. THE ABNORMAL CONDITION REFERRED TO IN THE LOGBOOK WAS VERBALLY RELAYED TO MAINT AND TO THE OUTBOUND CREW. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 257122: THE ENG OPERATED NORMALLY THE REST OF FLT.
