Narrative
HOW THE PROB AROSE: ORIGINALLY CLRED DIRECT FROM SJN TO CIM; THEN CHANGED VIA PDC TO FLY J-18 BTWN SJN AND CIM. WE DIDN'T DO THE CHANGE -- WENT DIRECT CIM FROM SJN. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) BOTH THE FLT PLAN AND THE PDC ('FLT PLAN ROUTING' PORTION) SAY GO DIRECT. THE PDC 'ATC CLRNC' PORTION SAYS FLY THE AIRWAY TO ABQ THEN CIM. A LITTLE CONFUSING; I THINK THE PDC SHOULD NOT REPEAT THE FLT PLAN IF IT IS NO LONGER VALID. 2) RIGHT AFTER TKOF; THE CTLR GAVE US A 050 DEG HDG FOR SJN WHEN ABLE. WITHOUT DOUBLE-CHKING THE NEW ROUTING; I THOUGHT HE WAS SKIPPING THE REST OF THE DEP SID AND THE CHANGED ROUTING. HOW IT WAS DISCOVERED: THE CTLR QUERIED US A FEW MI PAST SJN. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: WE OFFERED TO GO OVER ABQ; BUT THE CTLR SAID THERE WAS NO TFC AND NOT TO WORRY; GO DIRECT CIM. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 257378: I THINK THAT THERE ARE 2 THINGS THAT COULD BE DONE IN THE FUTURE TO AVOID THIS SIT. ELIMINATE THE FLT PLAN ROUTING FROM THE PDC IN THOSE INSTANCES WHERE THE CLRNC IS NOT AS FILED. HAVING 2 RTES ON THE PDC CAN BE CONFUSING!
