BRAKING ACTION RPT.
Narrative
ACR X CLRED TO BACK TAXI DOWN THE RWY FOR TKOF ON RWY 32L. AN MLG HAD LANDED JUST BEFORE AND HAD BEEN CLRED TO THE GATE. THE TWR OPERATOR ASKED IF WE WOULD BE READY AT THE END BECAUSE SHE HAD ANOTHER ACFT ON FINAL APCH. WE ASSURED HER THAT WE WOULD BE READY. AS WE WERE TAXIING ALONG ON WHAT WAS CLRLY A SAFE RWY; WE HEARD THE MLG ACFT RPT A 'NIL BRAKING RPT.' WE STARTED TO CLARIFY THE LOCATION WHEN IT WAS DONE FOR US. THE TWR OPERATOR ADVISED THAT '2 ACFT LNDG HAD RPTED FAIR TO POOR' AND THAT 'MLG HAD JUST RPTED NIL AT TXWY C.' SINCE HE HAD GONE BY US QUITE AWHILE AGO (AT LEAST 1 MIN); IT SEEMED LOGICAL THAT HIS RPT WAS ABOUT A TXWY AND NOT THE RWY. 2 SUBSEQUENT XMISSIONS LED US TO BELIEVE THAT WE MIGHT HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD. ON TWR; AFTER WE WERE AIRBORNE AND THEN ON DEP CTL; WE OVERHEARD XMISSIONS TO OTHER ACFT THAT INDICATED IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE RWY END WHERE THE PROB AREA EXISTED. A CLEARER EXPLANATION OF THE ACFT'S LOCATION ON THE FIRST XMISSION WOULD HAVE CAUSED US TO REQUEST A BRAKING ACTION CHK EVEN THOUGH WE WERE ON THE OBVIOUSLY CLR RWY AT THE TIME OF THE XMISSION BY MLG.
