A RESERVE ACR CREWMAN COMPLAINS ABOUT ALLEGED ILLEGAL SCHEDULING.

Narrative

ON DEC/FRI/93; I WAS CALLED AT XT35 LCL FOR A REPOS FLT FROM JFK TO RDU. MY SEQUENCE CALLED FOR A DEADHEAD FROM RDU TO JFK AT XU35. MY DUTY TIME; OR RESERVE REQUIREMENT PUT ME ON CALL AT XA00 LCL THE NIGHT BEFORE. AFTER ACCEPTING THE ACFT FROM MAINT IN JFK (XX00 LCL); WE DEPARTED FOR RDU. AT THIS POINT WE WERE ALREADY PUSHING OUR LIMITS FOR FATIGUE; BUT CONTINUED TO RDU. UPON CALLING COMPANY IN RANGE (10 MINS OUT); OUR CREW SCHEDULING DEPT TRIED TO REASSIGN A FUNCTIONAL TEST FLT TO US AT XC30 LCL. IF YOU LOOK AT OUR DAY; WE WOKE UP AT XJ30 LCL; GOT ASSIGNED AT XT35 AND REASSIGNED AT XC30 THE NEXT MORNING FOR A 1 HR TEST FLT. WHERE IS OUR 'DUTY DAY?' WHERE DO THE 14 HRS BEGIN FOR RESERVE CREWS? THIS TYPE OF ABUSE OCCURS CONSTANTLY AT ACR AND OTHER REGIONALS. THIS ABUSE NEEDS TO STOP -- FATIGUED CREWS ARE ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN. MY DUTY DAY WAS A TOTAL OF 15 1/2 HRS WITHOUT A REST PERIOD. LET'S SIT DOWN AND PUT BETTER RULES DOWN TO CTL THESE ABUSES OF THE VERY VAGUE REST REQUIREMENTS FOR RESERVE CREW MEMBERS!!!
