MLG AT CRUISE HAS WINDSCREEN CRACK. EMER DECLARED; DSCNT MADE.

Narrative

AT FL330 A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AND THE FO R-1 WINDSCREEN WAS OBSERVED TO BE CRACKED. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY WAS IN QUESTION; AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND AN EMER DSCNT WAS INITIATED TO THE MEA/7000 FT. THE 'CRACKED WINDOW/INFLT' IRREGULAR CHKLIST WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND A VECTOR ACCEPTED TOWARDS THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT -- NAVY LEMOOR. THE CABIN ALT WAS INCREASED AND DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE TO '0' AT APPROX 10000 FT. LEVEL AT 7000 FT; IT WAS DETERMINED THAT STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY WAS NOT COMPROMISED AND AN IMMEDIATE LNDG (AT NAVY LEMOOR) WAS NOT REQUIRED. ATC WAS ADVISED THAT NORMAL FLT HANDLING WOULD SUFFICE AND THE EMER HANDLING NOT REQUIRED. A NORMAL UNPRESSURIZED FLT WAS MADE BACK TO SFO. ALL IRREGULAR AND NORMAL PROCS WERE ACCOMPLISHED AND COMPANY DISPATCH ADVISED. A NORMAL LNDG WAS MADE AT SFO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 263064: DISPATCH WAS ADVISED AND CONSULTED ON THE RETURN TO SFO. PARKING AT GATE IN SFO; MR. X FROM THE FAA ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY INJURIES (NO) OR A RAPID DECOMPRESSION (NO) AND SAID THAT THIS WOULD PROBABLY BE CLASSIFIED AS AN OCCURRENCE NOT AN INCIDENT.
