OVERPASS LIGHTING INTERFERES WITH APCH AT NIGHT.

Narrative

THERE IS AN OVERPASS IN CLOSE PROX TO RWY 28 AT BERMUDA DUNES ARPT. THIS IN ITSELF IS NOT PROB. EVERYONE HAS BEEN AWARE OF IT AND FOR NORMAL APCHS IT PRESENTS NO PROB. MY ONLY CONCERN IS FOR NIGHT APCHS. AGAIN; FOR NORMAL APCHS EVERYTHING IS FINE; HOWEVER; I FEAR SOME DAY A PLT THAT LIKES TO PUT HIS AIRPLANE AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE RWY AND MAKING A LOW APCH MAY HAVE TROUBLE. I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT RED WARNING MARKER BE PUT ON THE OVERPASS IN LINE WITH THE RWY. PUTTING ELECTRIC PWR THERE WOULD COST MONEY AND PROBABLY BE TIME CONSUMING GETTING THE APPROVAL FOR THE EXPENSE. I WOULD SUGGEST HOWEVER; THAT RED REFLECTORS WOULD BE OF HELP. THE ONLY ONE NOT BEING HELPED BY THE REFLECTORS WOULD BE ACFT LNDG WITHOUT LNDG LIGHTS. THESE WOULD BE VERY FEW IF ANY. THESE RED REFLECTORS COULD BE INSTALLED WITHOUT MUCH EXPENSE AND COULD PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. MANAGER OF THE BERMUDA DUNES ARPT IS IN FAVOR OF THIS SAFETY PRECAUTION. THESE REFERENCE MARKERS COULD BE INSTALLED ON EXISTING GUARD RAILS AND SIGNAGE ON THE E SIDE OF THE OVERPASS. I SUGGEST THAT THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE; DEPT OF ROAD AND HIGHWAY COULD UNDERTAKE THE INSTALLATION AT A VERY LOW COST. IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE; THEN THE ARPT MGR WOULD APPRECIATE RECEIVING THE PERMISSION TO DO SO. WE HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT YET; AND WE DO NOT KNOW IF WE WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT. SINCE ACCIDENTS DO NOT GIVE US A WARNING; WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL ONE HAPPENS BEFORE WE TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION? PLEASE GIVE THIS SOME CONSIDERATION AND ADVISE ME OF YOUR DECISION.
