AN ACR EMB-120 CAPT OVERTEMPED ONE OF HIS ENGS AND DID NOT TELL ANYONE.

Narrative

GND PWR UNIT WAS USED TO START ACFT ENGS. R ENG WAS STARTED FIRST. A START LIMITATION WAS EXCEEDED; WHICH REQUIRED A WRITE-UP IN THE ACFT FORMS; WHICH WAS NOT WRITTEN UP; AND WHICH WAS LATER FLOWN BY ME AND TRADED OFF TO ANOTHER CREW. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 263971: AFTER COMPLETING THE CHKLIST; THE CAPT STARTED THE R ENG. THE CAPT ABORTED THE START PROC WHEN HE SAW THE 'T-6' ENG TEMP WAS ABOVE NORMAL BUT STILL WITHIN STARTING LIMITATIONS. PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING THE SECOND START; THE CAPT NOTICED THAT NO RAMP AGENTS WERE OUTSIDE THE ACFT. THE CAPT ASKED ME TO GET OUT OF THE ACFT AND TO CLR HIM FOR THE START. I WAITED OUTSIDE UNTIL THE CAPT COMPLETED THE SECOND START SEQUENCE. HE ABORTED THE SECOND START. THE 'T-6' TEMP WAS EXCEEDED BEYOND THE LIMITATIONS. THE CAPT WAS SUPPOSED TO RPT THIS TO MAINT; BUT DID NOT. NOR DID HE NOTIFY ME. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE TEMP EXCEEDING THE LIMITS UNTIL THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON; WHEN I WAS INFORMED BY THE FO RELIEVING ME THAT EXCESSIVE TEMP HAD DAMAGED THE ENG. I HAD BEEN KEPT 'OUT OF THE LOOP' REGARDING THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE SECOND ENG START ATTEMPT.
