Narrative
ON THE BONUL 3 ARR INTO PDX APPROX 60 DME ON THE 079 DEG RADIAL OFF PDX; GIVEN A DISCRETION DSCNT FROM 20000 FT TO CROSS 'RAINR' (PDX 079 DEG RADIAL 45 DME) AT OR ABOVE 13000 FT; CROSS 'BONVL' AT 10000 FT. WE CROSSED 'BONVL' AT 12000 FT AND LEVELED AT 10000 FT; MORE THAN 3 NM PAST 'BONVL.' AT 50 DME THE CAPT BEGAN A 500 FPM DSCNT. I ADVISED HIM THAT WE WERE 20 NM FROM 'BONVL' AND 10000 FT HIGH. HE THEN SET THE AUTOPLT TO 1200 FPM; BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY RESPONSE I RECEIVED FROM HIM. I THEN ADVISED THE CAPT WE WERE 15 NM FROM 'BONVL' AND MORE THAN 8000 FT HIGH. AGAIN; HIS ONLY RESPONSE WAS TO INCREASE THE DSCNT TO ABOUT 2000 FPM. I THEN ASKED HIM IF HE WAS GOING TO MAKE THE RESTR. AGAIN; HE GAVE NO RESPONSE EXCEPT TO ADD 200 FPM TO THE DSCNT. APPROX 5-6 NM FROM 'BONVL' I ASKED HIM AGAIN IF HE WAS GOING TO MAKE IT OR SHOULD I SAY SOMETHING TO ATC. HE FINALLY REPLIED WITH 'IF YOU THINK YOU NEED TO.' I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING TO ATC; AS A MOMENT LATER CTR ADVISED US TO CONTACT APCH. I HAVE FLOWN WITH THIS CAPT BEFORE. IN MY OPINION HE IS A POOR PLT IN TERMS OF HEAD WORK. HE WON'T TAKE SUGGESTIONS. HE BELIEVES HE DOES EVERYTHING RIGHT! THERE ARE TOO MANY OF THESE GUYS FLYING OUT THERE; LIKE THE ONE THAT KILLED MY FRIEND IN HIBBING; MN.
