A PIPER NAVAJO ENTERED THE PHX CLASS B AIRSPACE WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative

THE PROB AROSE BECAUSE THE LACK OF COMS BTWN MYSELF AND MY COPLT. MY COPLT; THE OWNER OF THE ACFT; ALWAYS PREFLTS; WARMS UP AND GETS OUR CLRNC BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE ACFT. I FAILED TO CHK OUR CLRNC BEFORE TKOF. AFTER TKOF FROM SCOTTSDALE; I TOOK UP A HDG TO BUCKEYE AND CONTACTED PHOENIX DEP CTL FOR VECTORS IN THEIR CTL ZONE. THEY GAVE ME A TRANSPONDER CODE AND PICKED ME UP. THEY NOTIFIED ME OF AN ACFT ON AN APCH TO SKY HARBOR AT MY 10 TO 11 O'CLOCK POS. WE HAD PICKED UP THE ACFT VISUALLY ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS WE WERE NOTIFIED BY DEP CTL. I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO TURN TO A HDG OF 270 DEGS (I WAS ON 255 DEGS AT THE TIME). RIGHT AFTER THAT; THEY INFORMED ME TO CALL THEM ON LAND LINE AFTER LNDG. I WAS THEN TURNED OVER TO LUKE AFB AND THEY VECTORED ME AROUND THIS AREA. I WAS WRITTEN UP FOR ENTERING PHOENIX CLASS B AIRSPACE. IT WAS MY FAULT THAT I DID NOT CHK TO SEE THAT WE HAD A CLRNC THOROUGH THEIR AREA BEFORE I TOOK OFF. FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH; THIS WAS MY FIRST VIOLATION IN MY 50 YEARS OF FLYING. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR FLIES A PIPER NAVAJO THAT BELONGS TO A FRIEND WHO NO LONGER HAS A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT HE HAS BEEN WRITTEN UP. HE REALIZES THAT THIS WAS HIS FAULT. HE WAS 'AWARDED' SOME TRAINING BY THE FSDO. 4 HRS OBSERVATION AT THE ATC CTR; 3 HRS GND INSTRUCTION; AND 1 HR FLT INSTRUCTION. HE IS NOW AWARE OF THE 10 DAY LIMITATION ON SENDING A RPT TO THE ASRS TO RECEIVE IMMUNITY.
