LOSS OF ACFT CTL AFTER INFLT ENCOUNTER WITH DOWNDRAFT. UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.

Narrative

ON APR/SUN/94 AT XA15 AM; I WAS APPROX 18 MI NNW OF THE INYOKERN ARPT FOLLOWING THE W SIDE OF HWY 395 TOWARDS THE INYOKERN ARPT WHEN MY ACFT ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TO SEVERE TURB AND STRONG DOWNDRAFTS OF 2000 FPM. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE ACFT TO THE E AWAY FROM THE MOUNTAIN RANGE AND CLBED TO 7500 FT. WHEN MY FLT CONDITIONS ENABLED ME TO CONTACT JOSHUA APCH CTL FOR ADVISORY; THE CTLR STATED THAT I HAD ENTERED 1 MI INTO RESTR AREA 2505 AND INSTRUCTED ME TO TURN TO A WESTERLY HDG TO EXIT R2505. BY THIS TIME THE TURB HAD SUBSIDED TO MODERATE AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLY WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS RECEIVED FROM THE CTLR. I CONTINUED MY CLB TO 11500 AND WAS CLRED TO TRANSITION RESTR AREA 2515 DIRECT TO MY DEST ARPT; FRENCH VALLEY. I REALIZED THAT MY ACFT WAS CLOSE TO THE WESTERLY BOUNDARY OF RESTR AREA 2505. HOWEVER; I FELT THAT IT WAS NECESSARY TO TURN THE ACFT AWAY FROM THE MOUNTAINS AND ESCAPE THE SEVERE TURB AND STRONG DOWNDRAFTS. THE SAFETY OF THE ACFT AND THE PAX ABOARD WAS MY MAJOR CONCERN AND RESPONSIBILITY.
