Narrative

IN SUM: ATX FREIGHTER PLT OVERWHELMED BY THE OPS AT MSP AND THE TFC MIX OF LARGE AND SMALL ACFT GETS OVER ANXIOUS WHILE HOLDING IN POS FOR TKOF AFTER HIS COMPANY FLT HAD JUST DEPARTED BEFORE HIM. THEIR CALL SIGNS WERE 4 DIGIT NUMBERS WITH THE LAST ONE THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BTWN THEM. UPON HEARING CLRNC FOR A TURN AND TRANSFER INSTRUCTIONS TO DEP CTLR ENDING WITH RPTR'S THOUGHT THAT THE CTLRS DON'T WASTE WORDS HERE. THIS WAS RPTR'S FIRST TRIP INTO AND OUT OF MSP. IT ALL GOT SORTED OUT AFTER HE WAS AIRBORNE WITH VECTORS AND REQUEST TO HAVE HIM CALL THE TWR. THE RPTR HAD TUNED HIS RADIO TO DEP CTL FREQ RIGHT AFTER OR DURING HIS TKOF ROLL SO DID NOT HEAR THE TWR TELL HIM TO ABORT THE TKOF. HE BLAMES HIS INEXPERIENCE AT MSP AND EXPECTING THE TKOF CLRNC. HE WAS SURE THAT CTLR USED HIS CALL SIGN THEN WASN'T ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN LATER. DID NOT ASK FOR A TAPE REVIEW. ALSO BLAMES HIMSELF FOR NOT LISTENING FOR READBACK CONFIRMATION AND CITED NON STANDARD USE OF TKOF CLRNC AT HIS 'HOME' BASE IN THAT TWR OPERATORS DO NOT ALWAYS INCLUDE 'TKOF' IN THEIR LAUNCHING TECHNIQUES. PROMISES TO BE A 'FUSSY OLD LADY' IN THE FUTURE.
