AN ACR MLG TAXIED THROUGH GENERAL AVIATION PARKING ON AN UNSTRESSED TXWY.
Narrative
PRIOR TO LNDG -- COPLT AND I DISCUSSED PFN NOTAM -- 'LNDG ON RWY 14 AND EXITING TXWY 'F' -- MAKE 90 DEG TURN ON TXWY 'A'. DO NOT CONTINUE ON TXWY 'F' INTO GENERAL PARKING AS IT IS NOT STRESSED FOR WT.' THERE ARE 2 TXWYS OFF OF 'E': 1 GOING INTO GENERAL AVIATION PARKING AND 1 GOING TO RAMP. IN READING NOTAM I UNDERSTOOD THE NOTAM TO MEAN NOT TO GO INTO THE GENERAL AVIATION RAMP -- WE DIDN'T. AFTER PASSING THE PARALLEL TXWY AND APCHING THE 'RESTR' TXWY (NOT KNOWING AT THE TIME); TWR INFORMED US THAT THE TXWY AHEAD WAS NOT STRESSED FOR AIR CARRIERS -- HOWEVER; THAT MD-80 ACFT (OUR TYPE) ARE OFTEN PARKED ON THIS TXWY AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION -- BEING CAREFUL OF A BUMP AT THE END. WE PROCEEDED WITH NO PROBS. IN REVIEWING THE INCIDENT; I WOULD MAKE 2 RECOMMENDATIONS: 1) CHANGE THE ARPT PLATE TO REFLECT THIS LIMITED TXWY AS IT IS DEPICTED NOW. IT LOOKS LIKE A 'NORMAL' TXWY: 2) SPECIFY THE NOTAM TO MORE SPECIFICALLY REFLECT THE PROPER TXWY TO USE; I.E.; 'WHEN LNDG ON RWY 14 AND TURNING OFF ON TXWYS F; G OR AT THE END; ACRS SHOULD USE TXWY 'E' TO TAXI TO THE RAMP -- DO NOT USE THE TXWY BTWN 'F' AND 'A' INTXN TO GET TO THE RAMP.' PERHAPS THIS TXWY SHOULD BE NAMED AND IDENTIFIED. AS A 'LIGHT WT' ACFT TXWY ONLY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTING CAPT DID NOT INCLUDE HIS PHONE NUMBER OR THE CITY OF HIS RESIDENCE; SO THIS VETERAN; GRIZZLED. ANALYST CALLED THE PFN TWR. THE GENTLEMAN THAT ANSWERED THE PHONE STATES THAT THIS IS AN 'ONGOING PROB.' THE ENTRY INTO THE TERMINAL RAMP 'IS NOT MARKED; OR POORLY MARKED AT BEST.' THE PFN TWR HAS TRIED TO HAVE THE ARPT MGR ERECT SIGNS OR DO SOME PAINTING ON THE TXWYS; BUT NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. THE PFN TWR PERSON BELIEVES THAT THE 'NOTAM' THAT THE RPTR REFERS TO IS ACTUALLY A COMPANY BULLETIN ON THIS SUBJECT AS THERE IS NO NOTAM PUBLISHED. THE TWR PERSON KNOWS OF AT LEAST 2 ACRS THAT PUBLISH PAGES OUTLINING THIS PROB.
