SHUTTLE FLT. PLT-PKB WITH 6 PAX ON BOARD WAS CLRED FOR A VOR APCH; RWY 21 AT PKB ARPT. TSTM WAS DEVELOPING APCHING FILED. STARTED APCH; CLRED TO 2800 FT UNTIL ESTABLISHED. AT ABOUT 2.9 NM FROM PKB VOR AND NOT ABLE TO INTERCEPT COURSE DUE TO HVY PRECIPITATION AND LIGHTNING; DECIDED TO INITIATE A MISSED APCH. WEAVED OUR WAY AROUND TSTM AND TOLD BY PKB TWR TO CONTACT ZID AGAIN FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. NEVER DID GET ON MISSED APCH COURSE OF 205 DEG DUE TO TSTM. ASKED ZID FOR 3000 FT. MISSED APCH ALT 2600 FT. REQUESTED AN ILS APCH RWY 03 (PKB) EVEN THOUGH WINDS WERE NOT FAVORING 03. VISIBILITY WAS DROPPING TO 1 NM; PROBABLY LOWER; AND FOG INTENSIFYING DUE TO TSTM NOW ON FIELD. OUR THOUGHT PROCESS WAS TO APCH FIELD FROM REAR OF STORM. THEN; R ENG FIRE WARNING ACTIVATED WHEN VECTORED ONTO FINAL. WENT THROUGH COMPANY 'ENG FIRE-ENG SHUTDOWN' CHKLIST. 'DECLARED AN EMER.' BLEW BOTH FIRE BOTTLES FOR THAT ENG. NOTE: NO FIRE NOTED FORM COCKPIT AND NOT A BLEED PROB. MADE A NORMAL ILS APCH TO LNDG. WIND FROM 270-350 50 GUST 45. FIRE TRUCKS WERE NOTIFIED AND ON SIGHT IMMEDIATELY. STOPPED ACFT IN 3/4 WAY DOWN RWY. SHUT OFF ELECTRICAL MASTER. HAD INFORMED FLT ATTENDANT OF SIT. SHE PREPARED CABIN/PAX FOR AN EMER LNDG; BUT WITH MODIFICATION: SINCE POSSIBLE FIRE ON R SIDE DID A NORMAL DEPLANING OUT L (NORMAL) AIRSTAIR DOOR DUE TO ACFT CABIN HT; APPROX 3 FT OFF GND. SLIPPERY SURFACES; NUMBER OF PAX=6; FAST/EASY ESCAPE PATH. NO FIRE NOTED; NON DISCERNABLE CRACK IN ENG FIRE DETECTION LOOP. L TIRE (BASE OF TIRE) VULCANIZED (REVERTED RUBBER) ABOUT CTRLINE; 1 CM TO 2 CM THICK DUE TO HYDROPLANING. CHIEF PLT STATED ABQ POI DID NOT NEED ANY PAPERWORK FROM ME EXCEPT VERBAL DEBRIEF.
