MIL Y MADE SHORT TURN AND HAD LTSS FROM ACR X. SYS ERROR.

Narrative

I WAS CONDUCTING RADAR OJT. WORKING SECTOR 63 AND 78 COMBINED. THE AIRSPACE IS FROM ELP TO THE SE AT FL270 AND ABOVE SECTOR 20 IS THE SECTOR BELOW AT FL260 DOWN. SECTOR 20 AND SECTOR 63'S SCOPES ARE SIDE-BY-SIDE WITH NO SPACE BTWN. SECTOR 20 WAS CONDUCTING RADAR OJT AS WELL. THEREFORE I WAS UNABLE TO SIT NEXT TO MY TRAINEE; I WAS STANDING BEHIND HER. THERE WERE 3 ACFT LINED UP AND SPACED OUT LNDG AT ELP. WHEN WE GOT THE HDOF ON A 4TH ACFT (AN MD80); WE DECIDED THE MD80 WOULD BE #2. WE TURNED HIM 20 DEGS L FOR SPACING WITH THE FIRST ACFT. THEN TURNED ACR X AND MIL X TO A 280 DEG HDG FOR THE MD80. DURING THIS TIME; MY TRAINEE HAD A LOT GOING ON (ABOUT 20 ACFT) ONE WAS A MEXICAN PLT (HARD TO UNDERSTAND) AND SECONDLY A LEAR JET WITHOUT MODE C; CLBING TO FL410 OFF OF ELP EBOUND. I WAS WATCHING SECTOR 20'S TFC AS WELL TO SEE HOW OUR INBOUNDS WHERE GOING TO AFFECT THEM. MY TRAINEE ASKED ME FOR HELP; I TOLD HER TO TURN X AND Y TO A 300 DEG HDG BASED ON WHAT I SAW OF SECTOR 20'S TFC; SHE TURNED THE LAST ACFT ACR X; A B737; THEN TURNED MIL X; TA4; BUT MIL X TURNED FASTER AND SEPARATION WAS LOST. THE CLOSEST THE B737 AND THE TA4 GOT WAS 4.6 MI.
