FLC OF ACR MLG FAILED TO FOLLOW THE SID DEP TO WHICH THEY WERE CLRED.

Narrative

WE HAD BEEN FLYING A LONG 4 LEG PATTERN AND WERE ON THE LAST LEG; ORD TO SLC TO SMF TO SEA TO SMF. WE HAD BEEN DISPATCHED WITH THE FMCS AND CDU INOP FOR THE 4 LEGS. ON THE SMF; SEA LEG I REVIEWED THE SEA SMF FLT PLAN AND KNEW THAT IT REQUIRED THE USE OF THE 'LONG RANGE NAV EQUIP' -- 'FMCS AND CDU.' WITH THE FMCS AND CDU INOP; I REQUESTED DISPATCH CHANGE THE FLT PLAN TO 'AIRWAYS' ROUTING. DISPATCH SENT ME A COPY AND CALLED IT RELEASE 2. GOOD; I THOUGHT; NOW WE ARE LEGAL! ON DEP FROM SEA TO SMF; THE PDC CAME BACK AS CLRED VIA OUR ORIGINAL RELEASE 1 -- LONG-RANGE NAV REQUIRED. WELL; I THOUGHT; I WILL ACCEPT IT AS THE FIRST PART OF THE FLT DID NOT REQUIRE THE LONG- RANGE STUFF; THEN CHANGE THE ROUTING LATER IN THE FLT. I THOUGHT THE COMPANY HAD JUST NOT FILED THE RTE THAT THEY HAD SENT ME. WHILE FLYING THE SID ON THE ORIGINAL RELEASE; DEP QUESTIONED THE SID WE WERE FLYING AND WE TOLD THEM WE WERE FLYING THE PDC ROUTING. THEY THOUGHT WE WERE TO FLY THE SID ASSIGNED TO RELEASE 2; WHICH IS NOT EVEN INCLUDED IN THE CLRNC ON THE RELEASE 2. SO ATC'S PDC KNOWS RELEASE 1 AND DEP CTL KNOWS RELEASE 2. THIS IS NOT RIGHT OR FAIR TO ANY CREW; LET ALONE ONE THAT HAS MADE A FUEL STOP IN SLC ON A LONG DAY FLYING WITH THE FMCS AND CDU INOP FOR THE FIRST TIME.
