Synopsis

RUSHED RAMP OP PUSHBACK.

Narrative

FLT WAS LATE PUSHING OFF GATE DUE TO LATE LOADING OF BAGS. AS SOON AS THE BAGGAGE DOORS CLOSED; WE CALLED GND FOR PUSHBACK CLRNC. UPON RECEIVING CLRNC; WE RELAYED TO THE TUG DRIVER WE HAD BEEN GIVEN CLRNC TO PUSH. THE TUG DRIVER CALLED FOR 'BRAKES RELEASED' AND WE STARTED BACK. THE JETWAY HAD NOT BEEN PULLED BACK AND WE MADE CONTACT WITH THE JETWAY WHILE PUSHING BACK. INSPECTION OF THE ACFT REVEALED NO DAMAGE AND THE FLT WAS CONTINUED. I THINK TUG DRIVERS NEED TO BE ALERT TO JETWAY POS EVEN AFTER COCKPIT CREW HAS INDICATED 'CLR TO PUSH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN '272286: AS PUSH WAS INITIATED WE WERE INFORMED THAT 1 PAX DOOR WAS OPEN. THIS WAS CLOSED IN THE FIRST FEW SECONDS OF THE PUSH. IN THE HURRY TO PUSH; THE TUG DRIVER DID NOT INSURE THAT JETWAY WAS CLR OF ACFT; THUS RESULTING IN SLIGHT MARRING OF FUSELAGE PAINT. DUE TO SCHEDULE WE ALLOWED OURSELVES TO BE RUSHED WHICH WAS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THIS IRREGULAR PERFORMANCE WITHOUT BEING RUSHED. THE CHKLIST COULD HAVE PREVENTED THIS DOOR OPEN ON PUSH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 272295: ON PUSHBACK ACFT BRUSHED AGAINST A CABIN WINDOW ON L-HAND SIDE OF ACFT. I WENT BACK TO INSPECT WINDOW; AND NO DAMAGE NOTED. MADE A NUMBERED ITEM IN ACFT LOG TO THAT EFFECT.
