MLG DEPARTING ON SID HEADS FOR RESTR AREA. CTLR INTERVENES.

Narrative

EARLY MORNING DEP SDF FOR IAH. THE CLRNC I READ BACK TO CLRNC DELIVERY WAS 'DERBY CITY 1. RADAR VECTORS PXV VOR....' UPON CONTACTING DEP WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO 'INTERCEPT V-4 ON COURSE.' THE CAPT ACKNOWLEDGED AND BEGAN THE AFTER TKOF PROC. THIS WAS THE FIRST I HAD HEARD V-4 MENTIONED. I STARTED TO QUESTION THE CAPT ABOUT V-4 AND HIS RESPONSE WAS A HOSTILE 'I DON'T HAVE ANY ANSWERS FOR YOU RIGHT NOW!' I MONITORED RWY HDG AS PER THE SID; FIGURING V-4 WAS FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD. I DID NOT HAVE MY LOW CHART OUT SINCE I THOUGHT I HAD EVERYTHING I NEEDED OFF THE SID. ATC THEN INFORMED US WE WERE HDG TOWARDS R- 3704A/B AND GAVE US A VECTOR TO KEEP US CLR. I DO NOT BELIEVE WE ENTERED R-3704A/B. SEVERAL FACTORS: 1) READBACK/HEARBACK ERROR WITH CLRNC DELIVERY RESULTING IN OUR NOT BEING SET UP FOR V-4.2) MY FAILURE TO NOTICE THE RESTR AREA ON THE SID GRAPHIC. 3) I AM A NEW/LOW TIME FO (JUST OFF THE FE PANEL; 5 YRS IN GUAM). 4) A GRUMPY/HOSTILE CAPT TYPE WHO HAD FLOWN THE SAME TRIP 1 WK BEFORE; I ASSUMED HE HAD A PLAN AND I WENT ALONG FOR THE RIDE. 5) MY LACK OF ASSERTIVENESS -- CCC WORKS IF YOU USE IT!
