PLT OF AN SMA SEL TOOK EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID AN MLG CLBING OUT AFTER TKOF ON ASSIGNED DEP BY ATC.

Narrative

I WAS FLYING A CESSNA 182 RG; RETURNING TO ABQ ARPT FROM GRANTS ARPT; NM. MADE INITIAL RADIO CONTACT WITH ABQ APCH 25 NM W OF ABQ. WAS ASSIGNED A HDG OF 060 DEGS AND ALT OF 9500 FT. WAS ISSUED A TA FOR AN ACR Y AIRLINES MD-80 THAT WOULD BE DEPARTING ABQ RWY 26. DID NOT HAVE ACFT IN SIGHT AT THIS TIME. HEARD THE ACFT ASSIGNED A HDG OF 010 DEGS AND ALT OF 20000 FT. HEARING 20000 FT AS OPPOSED TO FL200 SEEMED UNUSUAL; BUT THE CALL SOUNDED CLR. I MADE VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE ACR Y ACFT AS IT TURNED N OUT OF TFC; AND WATCHED IT CLB AND APCH MY FLT PATH. I HEARD NO ADDITIONAL TA'S ISSUED TO ME OR THE ACR Y ACFT AND I HEARD NO ADDITIONAL ALT RESTRS PLACED ON THE ACR Y ACFT. WHEN IT APPEARED TO ME THAT A COLLISION OR NEAR COLLISION WITH THE ACR Y ACFT MIGHT OCCUR; I MADE AN IMMEDIATE; STEEP BANKED TURN TO THE L HDG 360 DEGS AND ANNOUNCED MY INTENTIONS OVER THE RADIO. IN MAKING THIS TURN; MY ACFT LOST 250 FT OF ALT. THE ACR Y ACFT PASSED QUICKLY AND APPEARED TO BE STILL CLBING AS IT DID SO. I RESUMED A HDG OF 060 DEGS AND ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN THE LOST ALT. THE ACR Y PLT ASKED APCH FOR MY ALT AND THE CTLR RPTED 9250 FT MSL AND I VERIFIED THAT AS CORRECT. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO CALL THE CTLING SUPVR AFTER LNDG (WHICH I DID).
