AN ACR CAPT IS CONCERNED ABOUT PAX ON THE RAMP AND THE NOISE THAT HIS ACFT IS PRODUCING.

Narrative

WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI IN TO GATE X AT BOS. (THIS GATE IS NOT DEPICTED ON COMMERCIAL CHART 10-9B; BUT IS NEXT TO Y.) AS WE GOT INTO THE ALLEY; WE NOTICED THAT A COMMUTER ABOUT 150 YARDS BEHIND X WAS BOARDING PAX. WE STOPPED TO CHK WITH OUR COMPANY TO SEE IF WE SHOULD CONTINUE OUR TAXI IN TO X. THEY SAID TO CONTINUE IN SPITE OF PAX BOARDING THE COMMUTER. OUR CONCERN HERE WAS NOT THE EXHAUST/THRUST FROM OUR ACFT (WE COULD GET TO THE GATE AT IDLE PWR) BUT OUR CONCERN WAS THE ENG NOISE AS REGARDS THE COMMUTER PAX ON THE RAMP. AT THIS POINT (THE FIRST STOP POINT NOISE WAS ALREADY AN ISSUE AND THE COMMUTER RAMP AGENTS WERE STILL WALKING MORE PEOPLE OUT -- OBVIOUSLY THEY HAD NO REGARD FOR NOISE VERSUS THEIR PAX) WE CONTINUED TO THE GATE AND SHUT DOWN. CONCLUSION: JET ENG NOISE IS NOT PLEASANT. PAX SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON RAMP; ESPECIALLY WITH ENGS RUNNING NEARBY. IF WE HAVE TO OPERATE THIS WAY; PAX BOARDING SHOULD BE COORDINATED WITH ARRS OR JETS SHOULD SHUT DOWN AND GET TOWED TO GATE. I HAVE NOTIFIED MY COMPANY OF MY THOUGHTS.
