Narrative

LNDG AT NEW HAVEN (TWR WAS CLOSED) I TAXIED THE AIRPLANE ON A TXWY THAT I LATER FOUND OUT WAS CLOSED TO ACFT WITH TKOF GROSS WT OF GREATER THAN 75000 LBS. IT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD BEEN THERE FOR YRS. THERE WAS AN ACFT BEHIND US ON APCH AND I SAW THE TXWY LIGHTS ON. I MADE THE TURN. MY FO WAS NEW (RETIRED FROM THE MIL); HAD NEVER BEEN TO AN ARPT WITHOUT A TWR. HE SAID 'IS THIS TXWY CLOSED?' AND I SAID 'I DON'T THINK SO BECAUSE THE TXWY LIGHTS WERE ON.' THIS RAISED THE QUESTION WHICH I LATER FOUND THE RESTR. I HAD GONE OVER THE PRE QUALIFICATION VIDEO AT WORK BUT IT NEVER STATED ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. THE FLT TO NEW HAVEN WAS ONLY 13 MINS IN FLT FROM WHITE PLAINS AND I DID REVIEW THE ARPT DIAGRAM BUT WAS INTERRUPTED BY ATC GIVING US DIRECT ROUTING. MY FO APPEARED A BIT CONFUSED BY THE LACK OF APCH AND TWR (THEY WERE CLOSED) SO I FELT I SHOULD STAY WITH HIM INSTEAD OF REVIEWING ARPT DIAGRAM. I FELT THE VIDEO SHOULD HAVE FILLED ME IN ON ALL PERTINENT INFO; BUT IT DIDN'T. WE HAD TO TALK WITH ZNY; NEW HAVEN UNICOM; TURN THE ARPT LIGHTS ON; DO CHKLISTS; ETC; SO THE ARPT DIAGRAM WAS NEGLECTED. I WOULD NORMALLY HAVE BACK TAXIED BUT WE HAD A COMMUTER INBOUND ON FINAL AND I WAS CONCERNED HE WOULDN'T SEE US ON THE RWY.
