ACFT DAMAGED MAIN LNDG GEAR DOORS ON LNDG.

Narrative

AFTER PUTTING THE GEAR HANDLE DOWN ON APCH TO RWY 23 IN CLT WE DID NOT GET A GREEN DOWN AND LOCKED LIGHT FOR THE NOSE GEAR. MAINS WERE DOWN AND LOCKED. AS WE MADE OUR GAR THE TWR CONFIRMED THAT THE MAINS WERE DOWN BUT COULD NOT SEE A NOSE GEAR. WE WERE VECTORED TO THE W OF CLT WHILE WE RAN THE ABNORMAL PROC. THE PROC CALLED FOR MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION WHICH WE ACCOMPLISHED. THE MANUAL GEAR EXTENSION WORKED AND WE GOT 3 GREEN LIGHTS. WE THEN LANDED ON RWY 18R. WE WERE UNABLE TO STOW THE EMER GEAR HANDLE BEFORE LNDG. ADDITIONALLY; THERE SHOULD BE A PLACARD ON THE DC-9 NEAR THE GEAR EMER EXTENSION HANDLE OR THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING IN THE PLTS HANDBOOK WHICH READS: TO STOW EMER GEAR EXTENSION HANDLE MOVE SLOTTED BRACKET TO ACFT L AND PUSH DOWN. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 276687: THE EMER GEAR EXTENSION HANDLE WAS RAISED TO LOWER THE NOSE GEAR. HOWEVER WE WERE UNABLE TO RESTOW THE EMER GEAR EXTENSION HANDLE SO THE MAIN GEAR DOORS DID NOT CLOSE. WE LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND MINOR DAMAGE TO THE GEAR DOORS.
