PVT PLT OF AN SMS SEL FAILS TO STOP SHORT OF TXWY AS REQUESTED BY TWR AFTER TURNING OFF RWY AFTER LNDG. CAUSING CONFLICT WITH ANOTHER TAXIING ACFT.

Narrative

CLRED TO LAND AND LANDED--TWR REQUESTED 'L NEXT TXWY--GND POINT 6.' 2 ACFT LNDG BEHIND ME (DISTANCE UNKNOWN). UPON CLRING JUST PAST HOLD SHORT LINES AND ONTO TXWY AND SWITCHING TO GND FREQ I WAS VERBALLY REPRIMANDED FOR NOT HOLDING SHORT OF TXWY AS I CAUSED A CONFLICT WITH TAXIING TFC (A CESSNA 172?). MY PAX (A PLT) NOR I HEARD 'HOLD SHORT' (A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH TWR GND CTLR INDICATED THAT HE HEARD THE TWR GIVE A HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION). 2 THOUGHTS COME TO MIND. 1--I COULD HAVE SAID 'UNABLE' AT TWR REQUEST TO TURN OFF NEXT TXWY. I WAS STILL SMARTLY MOVING ALONG AND HVY BRAKING WAS REQUIRED. IF THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT A CONFLICT ON TXWY OR LETTING ME HANG OUT BTWN TXWY AND RWY; I COULD HAVE EASILY EXITED NEXT TXWY. IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY WOULD HAVE SAID 'GND 21.6' VERSUS POINT 6. I FORGOT TO CHK MY ARPT FACILITY DIRECTION FOR GND FREQ AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT THIS FREQ WAS UPON TOUCHDOWN. MAY HAVE STOPPED MY EARS FROM WORKING FOR A FEW SECONDS. (TWR DID SAY OVER TELEPHONE 'NO PROB.')
