Narrative
WE WERE ON A STRAIGHT-IN; VISUAL APCH TO RWY 30L AT SJC ARPT; CLRED BY SJC TWR (AJC). OUR DISTANCE ON FINAL APCH WAS ABOUT 2-4 MI FROM THE RWY. TWR HAD INFORMED US THAT WE WOULD SEE TFC (CESSNA SEL) ON A L BASE LEG TURNING FINAL APCH FOR RWY 29. THE 'WX' CONDITIONS WERE REAL GOOD VFR AND GOOD VISIBILITY. THE TIME OF DAY WAS ABOUT XA20 PM LCL WITH THE SUN LOW IN THE SKY. THIS WORSENED OUR SLANT VISIBILITY. ANYWAY; WE'RE LINED UP WITH THE RWY; STABILIZED IN THE LNDG CONFIGN AND 'CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 30L.' THE CESSNA WAS EITHER ON HIS L BASE LEG TURNING FINAL TO RWY 29 OR ALREADY ON FINAL DRIFTING OVER OUR DIRECTION. WE HAD HIM IN SIGHT. NEXT OUR TCASII WAS BLARING 'CLB; CLB; CLB' RA FOLLOWING THE TA; 'TFC; TFC; TFC.' WE FOLLOWED THE RA MANEUVER AND ADVISED THE TWR WE WERE 'GOING AROUND' IN AN EVASIVE CLBING R TURN. THE CESSNA APPEARED TO BE 1000-1300 FT; HORIZ TO OUR L. TOO CLOSE FOR SAFETY AND COMFORT. EVERYTHING WORKED OUT FINE; BUT RECOMMEND BETTER TFC STAGGERING AND SEPARATION WITH CLOSELY SPACED PARALLEL RWYS.
