C402B 9 PAX 1 PLT 6000 LBS (6200 FT MAX LNDG WT) CTR GRAVITY -- 159.7; AFT LIMIT 160.1. LAS ATIS ARR INFO 110 DEGS FAHRENHEIT; 43 DEGS DEWPOINT; WIND 1509; ALTIMETER 29.78. I WAS CLRED FOR A FLAMINGO APCH RWY 19R (WHICH IS A L BASE LEADING TO A 1 1/2 MI FINAL). AT 10 DME; 5000 MSL; 160 KTS; I WAS ADVISED OF TFC; 10 O'CLOCK; 6000 FT MSL; DSNDING AGR 757 NBOUND ON DOWNWIND TO RWY 19L. I RPTED TFC SIGHTED AND WOULD MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION. APCH THEN CLRED ME TO THE SHOWBOAT (ABOUT A 15 DEG R TURN LEADING TO A 4 1/2 MI FINAL); 6 MI FROM PRESENT POS. 3 MI FROM SHOWBOAT; NOW AT 4000 FT MSL PLUS 150 KTS; APCH CLRED ME DIRECT TO RWY 19R AND ISSUED TA UPDATE 757 12 O'CLOCK 4500 FT MSL TURNING L TO RWY 19L. DIRECT TO RWY 19R WOULD BRING ME THROUGH; AND BELOW; HIS FLT PATH TWICE; SO I REQUESTED TO STAY WIDER AND OUTSIDE HIS TURN. THIS WAS APPROVED. AT THIS TIME THE 757 ENTERED A RAPID DSCNT FOR LNDG; QUICKLY GOING BELOW MY ALT. I FLEW OVER THE SHOWBOAT AT 3500 FT MSL; 150 KTS; 10 DEG FLAPS; TURNED 10 DEGS L TO PARALLEL CHARLESTON BLVD; AND REMAIN CLR OF NELLIS AIRSPACE. IT IS ONLY 1 MI BTWN THE SHOWBOAT AND THE EXTENDED CTRLINE OF RWY 19R. ON THIS SEGMENT I DSNDED TO 3200 FT MSL (1000 AGL) LOWERED LNDG GEAR; SLOWED TO 135 KTS; FLEW PAST FINAL BY ABOUT 1/2 MI FOR MORE SPACE. AS I BEGAN L TURN TO FINAL I NOTICED THE 757 HAD OVERSHOT FINAL SLIGHTLY. HE WAS NOW 2 MI AHEAD OF ME AND LOWER; ON FINAL TO RWY 19L. I ROLLED LEVEL; TRACKING 180 DEGS TO THE NUMBERS OF RWY 19R; WITH NEARLY 10 DEGS ADDITIONAL CORRECTION FOR WIND. ACFT WAS THEN ROLLED TO A 60 DEG L BANK 20 DEGS NOSE DOWN. I USED LARGE CTL DEFLECTIONS TO RETURN TO LEVEL FLT; REMAINED ABOVE VASI; AND MADE A NORMAL LNDG. I MUST HAVE DSNDED INTO HIS GLIDE PATH AS I TURNED FINAL; WHICH HE OVERSHOT TOWARDS MY RWY; AND A 10 KT E WIND BROUGHT HIS VORTEX TO ME. DURING MY LAST 8 MI TO THE RWY REMAINED ABOVE HIM; BUT NOT HIS GLIDE PATH. I WAS DSNDING AT THIS TIME AND WAS TRICKED BY THE ILLUSION.
