CAPT OF 135 OP ACFT EXPRESSES CONCERN REGARDING DUTY REST TIME FOR CABIN ATTENDANT.

Narrative

ENCLOSED IS A COPY OF ONE OF OUR FLT ATTENDANTS SCHEDULES FOR A 5 DAY TRIP. I; PERSONALLY; WAS ONLY SCHEDULED TO FLY WITH HER FROM JUL/XX/94 TO JUL/XX/94. 20 MINS PRIOR TO DEP ON FLT I OVERHEARD HER SAY THAT SHE HAD BEEN ON DUTY SINCE EARLY AM THAT MORNING. I THEN PULLED UP HER LINE ON THE COMPUTER AND DISCOVERED THE ENCLOSED 5 DAY TRIP; WHICH HAD BEEN REQUESTED BY HER; AND APPROVED BY SCHEDULING. I WAS AWARE OF THE FACT THAT OUR FLT ATTENDANTS HAVE NO REST REQUIREMENTS; HOWEVER; AFTER DELIBERATING WITH MYSELF FOR LESS THAN 1 MIN I DECIDED THAT I WOULD ONLY DO THIS OVERNIGHT WITH HER IF SHE AGREED TO A MINIMUM OF 8 HRS REST. SHE ELECTED TO FLY; AGREED TO THE REST; AND STILL RPTED EARLY THE NEXT MORNING. UPON ARRIVING AT OUR HOTEL ON THE EVENING OF THE JUL/XX/94; I CALLED SCHEDULING TO INQUIRE AS TO WHY SHE WAS SCHEDULED FOR 39 HRS; 18 MINS WITH LESS THAN HER REST. THEY INDICATED THAT SHE ELECTED TO WAIVE HER REST; AND INFERRED THAT I HAD NO RIGHT TO QUESTION THEIR APPROVAL OF THAT ASSIGNMENT. UPON ARRIVING IN ORLANDO (MCO) THE NEXT MORNING; I LEFT A NOTE FOR THE NEXT PLT SCHEDULED TO FLY WITH HER OF THE SIT. HE APPARENTLY ELECTED TO CONTINUE THE TRIP. SINCE THERE ARE NO LEGAL REST REQUIREMENTS FOR FLT ATTENDANTS; PLTS FEEL PRESSURE FROM MGMNT NOT TO QUESTION THE FA'S; SCHEDULING; OR THE COMPANY IN GENERAL REGARDING THEIR DECISIONS TO ALLOW OBVIOUS MISUSE OF THIS MISSING REG. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW.
