WORK DISAGREEMENT OR CONFLICT OF PERSONALITIES.
Narrative
ON XX/XX/94 I WAS WORKING ON ACFT WHEN MY SUPVR TOLD ME OF A TAIL PIPE ROLLER BOLT GUIDE WHICH NEEDED REPAIR; IT WAS WORN AND THE ROLLER BOLTS HAD POPPED OUT OF THE GUIDES. HE SUGGESTED WELDING IT AND HAVING IT MACHINED TO ORIGINAL DIMENSIONS. AFTER REVIEWING THE MAINT MANUALS I TOOK THE PIPE AND COPIES OF THE MANUAL PAGES TO A LCL MACHINE SHOP. I ASSISTED THE WORKER IN SELECTION OF MATERIALS AND METHOD OF WELDING. THE PIPE WAS WELDED AND MACHINED TO ORIGINAL DIMENSIONS. ON RETURN TO THE SHOP I INSTALLED THE TAILPIPE SIGNED OFF THE WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH 78-10-00 AND THE ACFT WAS RELEASED FOR SVC. LATER THAT NIGHT A LEAD MECH FROM MY SHOP CALLED ME AT HOME SAYING THAT I HAD DONE AN IMPROPER REPAIR; AND HE WAS GOING TO TURN MYSELF AND MY SUPVR (MENTIONED BEFORE) WHO IS ALSO THE BASE MGR. THE LEAD AND MY BASE MGR HAD BEEN HAVING PROBS FOR SOME TIME AND THE LEAD IS NOW NO LONGER WITH THE COMPANY FOR SEVERAL OFFENSES. NOW BACK TO THE REPAIR; I FEEL MY REPAIR IS IN FULL ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUAL AND I AND MY COMPANY STAND BY IT. I ALSO CALLED THE COMPANY THAT REPAIRS THE TAILPIPES. THEY ALSO REPAIR THE ROLLER GUIDES THE SAME WAY. ALSO I KNOW THE WELD WAS GOOD BECAUSE I WAS PRESENT WHEN IT WAS WELDED AND I USED TO BE A CERTIFIED WELDER. THE REASON FOR FILING THIS RPT IS; I WAS ADVISED TO DO SO BY MY AREA UNION REPRESENTATIVE BECAUSE OF THE DISPUTE; THAT IS THE ONLY REASON MYSELF; THE COMPANY; THE ACFT MANUFACTURER; ALL INTERPRET THE MANUAL TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH THIS REPAIR. ANY INPUT YOU HAVE WILL BE APPRECIATED. ALSO; TO ELIMINATE THIS PROB; THE MANUAL SHOULD BE MORE DETAIL ON REPAIRS THAN ONE PAGE AND ONE DIAGRAM; IT IS TOO GENERAL.
