AIRLINE MAINT PROC POLICY IS CRITICIZED BY ACR MAINT INSPECTOR.

Narrative

I WORK FOR AIRLINES AT MAINT CTR AS AN ACFT INSPECTOR. I WORK XZ00 SHIFT ON ACFT IN FOR A 'C' CHK. I HAVE BEEN WITH COMPANY SINCE 1975 AND HAVE BEEN AN INSPECTOR FOR 5 YRS. I WAS INSPECTING (BUYING BACK MECHS WORK) THE ACFT GALLEY DOOR ON ACFT. I WAS CHKING THE WORK SIGNED OFF ON NON ROUTINE WRITE-UPS -- ABOUT 8-10 -- WHEN I WAS ASKED BY MECH TO GIVE HIM CLRNC TO INSTALL THE DOOR LINING. HE SAID THE LINING WAS OFF TO REPLACE THE DOOR SNUBBER. I GAVE AN INTENSIVE INSPECTION IN THE AREA THAT HE TOLD ME HAD BEEN WORKED AND A GENERAL INSPECTION OF THE REMAINING AREA AND SIGNED THE WRITE-UP HE HANDED ME FOR CLRNC TO INSTALL THE LINING; AND WENT ON 'BUYING' THE OTHER WORK. AT APPROX XX00 ON THE SAME DAY I GOT A PHONE CALL FROM SHIFT INSPECTOR FOREMAN INQUIRING WHY I HAD NOT SIGNED FOR ADJUSTMENT OF HANDLE STICKING AND ADJUSTMENT OF COCKING ROD ON THIS SAME WRITE-UP AS THE CLRNC THAT I DID SIGN FOR. I DID NOT SEE THESE AS THE WRITE-UP WAS FOLDED TO WHERE I COULD NOT SEE THEM WHEN IT WAS HANDED TO ME AND I DID NOT UNFOLD IT AND MECH SAID NOTHING ABOUT THE COCKING ROD. IF I HAD KNOWN THIS I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THAT AREA AN INTENSIFIED INSPECTION ALSO. MY CONCERN IS -- BEING PUSHED WITH TOO MAY MECHS TRYING TO SELL THEIR WORK LATE IN THE SHIFT AND MECHS NOT BEING KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT WORK ACCOMPLISHED OR TRYING TO COVER UP WORK. I AM NOT 100 PERCENT SURE OF THE WORK ACCOMPLISHED ON THE COCKING ROD; AND I FEEL SOMEWHAT SET UP BY THE MECHS.
