BRAKE FIRE AT GATE.
Narrative
THE LNDG WAS NORMAL ON RWY 18R IN CLT. THE ACFT'S LNDG WT WAS 86000 LBS; WHICH IS 2000 LBS; LESS THAN THE MAX ALLOWED. WE TAXIED TO GATE ALL APPEARED NORMAL. I PARKED THE ACFT AND BEGAN TO SECURE THE ACFT WITH THE CHKLIST. THE COCKPIT DOOR OPENED THE PAX BEGAN TO GET OFF AND THE CATERING TRUCK PULLED UP TO THE ACFT AND OPENED THE FORWARD SVC DOORS. AGAIN; ALL APPEARED NORMAL. ALL OF A SUDDEN; MY 'C' FLT ATTENDANT SAID TO ME 'A MECH SAID WE HAVE A BRAKE FIRE ON THE R SIDE! WHAT SHOULD I DO!' I IMMEDIATELY TOLD HER TO GET THE PAX OFF THE ACFT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE THROUGH THE NORMAL EXIT. I THEN TOLD MY FO TO CALL RAMP CTL AND REQUEST THE FIRE CREWS. I THEN HAD A BRIEF CONVERSATION WITH MY FO ABOUT THE PARKING BRAKE. BUT BECAUSE I HAD NOT RECEIVED A CHOCK-IN SIGNAL; I DECIDED TO KEEP THE PARKING BRAKE SET. THE FO THEN WENT BACK TO HELP ENCOURAGE THE PAX TO HURRY OFF THE ACFT AND ADVISED THEM TO LEAVE ALL CARRY-ON LUGGAGE. AFTER ALL 84 PAX WERE OFF THE ACFT SAFELY; I THEN FINISHED THE CHKLIST AND SECURED THE ACFT AND I AND MY CREW EXITED (NOTE THE FIRE DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE #3 BRAKE ASSEMBLY).
