AFTER THE FLC HAD PARKED AND SECURED THE ACFT AND TURNED THE ACFT OVER TO MAINT A FIRE WAS DISCOVERED COMING FROM THE #1 ENG AND DETERMINED TO BE THE CONSTANT SPD DRIVE.

Narrative

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
