RPTR FORGOT TO REMOVE MAINT ENG. GND RUN-UP DEVICE FROM THE FUEL CTL PRIOR TO RELEASING THE ACFT FOR FLT.

Narrative

ON THE NIGHT OF NOV/XX/94 I WAS WORKING ON DC9-30 PERFORMING AN 'A' CHK IN THE LINE; I WAS CHKING THE ENGS AND I NOTICED THE L ENG HAD METAL FUZZ IN ALL 4 CHIP DETECTORS SO I CONTINUED TO INVESTIGATE A LITTLE FURTHER. AT THIS TIME I PROCEEDED TO PULL THE MAIN OIL STRAINER AND FOUND MORE METAL PARTICLES. THEN; I CALLED MAINT CTL AND THEY ADVISED ME TO LOOK AT MAINT MANUAL 72-00 PAGE 132 WHICH SPECIFIES MY NEXT STEP WHICH TELLS ME TO INSTALL THE PARTIAL PWR STOP AND TAKE THE ACFT FOR A HIGH PWR RUN FOR 5 MINS ACCORDING WITH THE MAINT MANUAL PROCS. THEN CAME BACK AND PULLED THE FILTER; WHICH WAS A NEW ONE I JUST INSTALLED PRIOR TO THE ENE RUN; AND FOUND SOME METAL PARTICLES REAL FINE WHICH I THOUGHT WERE FROM THE LINES. AT THIS TIME MAINT CTL ADVISED ME TO PUT ON A NEW FILTER; RUN THE ENE AND CHKED AGAIN. AT THIS TIME I FOUND NO MORE METAL. THEN PROCEEDED TO PUT THE ENE ON MONITOR FOR 50 HRS FLT ACCORDING TO THE MAINT MANUAL. NOW UP TO THIS POINT I FELT I DID EVERYTHING RIGHT EXCEPT THAT I FAILED TO LOG IN THE REMOVAL OF THE PARTIAL PWR STOP IN THE LOGBOOK; WHICH IN TURN WHEN I FINISHED THE JOB AND CLOSED THE ENG COWLING AND RELEASED THE ACFT I FORGOT TO REINSTALL THE PP STOP TO THE ORIGINAL POS.
