Narrative
ARRIVED AT CHO; CLRED FOR VISUAL APCH TO RWY 03. UPON SELECTION OF GEAR DOWN (APPROX XA30); THE CREW OBSERVED ALL 3 RED 'IN-TRANSIT' LIGHTS ILLUMINATE. SUBSEQUENTLY; THE 2 MAIN GEAR GREEN 'DOWN AND LOCKED' INDICATORS ILLUMINATED NORMALLY; THE NOSE GEAR GREEN 'DOWN AND LOCKED' INDICATOR DID NOT ILLUMINATE. ALL HYD INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. THE DOWNWIND LEG WAS EXTENDED SLIGHTLY AND THE LNDG GEAR WAS RECYCLED WITH THE SAME RESULTS. INFORMED ATC OF THE PROB AND REQUESTED FLY-BY FOR VISUAL OBSERVATION. FLY-BY COMPLETED. EXECUTED GAR AND CLBED TO 3000 FT TO INVESTIGATE. CYCLED GEAR A THIRD TIME WITH SAME RESULTS. ATC ALSO HAD INFORMED THAT THE NOSE GEAR WAS EXTENDED. REVIEWED NOSE GEAR QRH CHKLIST. CALLED MAINT THROUGH CHO OPS. MAINT CTL ADVISED US TO PROCEED TO LYH (APPROX XA45). RECEIVED IFR CLRNC FROM ATC AND REQUESTED EMER HANDLING AND FIRE AND RESCUE EQUIP AT LYH. RE-REVIEWED NOSE GEAR QRH CHKLIST AND EMER EVAC CHKLIST ENRTE. BRIEFED PAX ON EMER EVAC. REQUESTED THROUGH ATC THAT COMPANY MAINT PERSONNEL BE IN THE LYH CTL TWR. UPON ARR IN THE LYH AREA; THE LNDG GEAR WAS ACTUATED WITH THE SAME RESULTS. PERFORMED FLY-BY FOR VISUAL INSPECTION BY MAINT PERSONNEL. INFORMED BY THEM THAT THE GEAR APPEARED TO BE LOCKED DOWN. EXECUTED GAR. CLBED TO 2500 FT FOR VISUAL PATTERN. REVIEWED THE QRH NOSE GEAR CHKLIST. EMER EVAC CHKLIST CONFIRMED CREW ACTION SHOULD NOSE COLLAPSE; AND PERFORMED FINAL PAX BRIEF. CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 03. AT APPROX 4 MI ON FINAL; FLAPS WERE SELECTED 20 TO VERIFY GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED. NO WARNING ACTIVATED. ALL INDICATIONS; EXCEPT THE NOSE GEAR GREEN; WERE NORMAL. A NORMAL LNDG WAS EXECUTED WHILE EXERCISING CARE WITH REGARD TO NOSE GEAR TOUCHDOWN; APPROX XB28. ACFT ROLLED TO TXWY CHARLIE. SHUTDOWN. GND PERSONNEL SECURED NOSE GEAR WITH PIN. TOWED TO GATE XB35.
