BRINGING MY STUDENT BELOW 500 FT; FAR MINIMUM SAFE ALT IN CONSIDERATION; WE ROLLED ONTO FINAL AND CONTINUED DSCNT TO APPROX 100-50 FT AGL AND INITIATED A GAR. UPON APPLICATION OF PWR MANY BIRDS TOOK FLT FROM GND COVER. NO 2INCIDENT AROSE. HOWEVER; THIS PROMPTED ME TO CONSULT MY SECTIONAL/TERMINAL CHART ONCE IN A SAFE CLB; TO VERIFY OUR AIRSPACE LOCATION. LOCATION WAS VERIFIED AS SAN FRANCISCO BAY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: ALWAYS PERFORMING LOW ALT MANEUVERS ON THIS SIDE OF BAY AND JUST S CAUSED COMPLACENCY IN VERIFYING COMPLIANCE WITH AIRSPACE. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: CLBED AT VX TO AVOID ANY FURTHER DISTURBANCES OF WILDLIFE. REVIEWED CHARTS AT END OF LESSON WITH STUDENT TO MAKE KNOWN MY ERROR AND IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING CHART SYMBOLOGY AND AIRSPACE LOCATIONS. HUMAN PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: FLYING DAILY WITHIN SFO CLASS B VEIL HAS TAUGHT PLT ABOUT AIRSPACE TRANSITIONS AND ATC COMPLIANCE AND COM. THERE IS MUCH SYMBOLOGY ON THE TERMINAL CHART ALONG WITH AIRSPACE DIMENSIONS AND LOCATIONS. CONTINUED EMPHASIS ON THESE ASPECTS CAUSED ME TO OVERLOOK OR NOT EMPHASIZE AIRSPACE NOT REGULATED BY ATC OR FAA RESTRS. ALSO; CONTINUED LOW ALT WORK JUST S OF THIS LOCATION CREATED A FALSE SENSE OF COMPLIANCE AND VERIFICATION WHEN PERFORMING THIS PROC. POSSIBLE SOLUTION: RE-STUDY AIRSPACE AND CHART SYMBOLOGY ASSURING COMPLIANCE WITH ALL REGS AND REQUESTS WHEN OPERATING AROUND THIS TYPE OF AIRSPACE.
