CABIN CREWMEMBER DID NOT HAVE CURRENT REVISION IN INFLT MANUAL.
Narrative
PROB AND CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: AS OF FEB/MON/95 MY INFLT MANUAL WAS NOT UP-TO-DATE (DID NOT INCLUDE COMPANY REVISION #27). REVISION #27 WAS DUE TO BE IN OUR MANUALS AS OF FEB/WED/95. I HAD BEEN VERY ILL AND NOT FLYING SINCE BEFORE THE REVISION WAS FIRST ISSUED. I PICKED UP THE REVISION ON THE VERY FIRST DAY I CAME BACK TO WORK; FEB/FRI/95. I PUT IT IN MY BAG WITHOUT NOTICING THAT IT WAS PAST DUE. MY INTENTION WAS TO INSERT IT ON MY FIRST LONG LAYOVER. MY FIRST LAYOVER WAS VERY SHORT. I WAS STILL NOT FEELING WELL AND DETERMINED THAT I NEEDED REST. SO; I WENT TO BED WITHOUT INSERTING REVISION #27. I FELT EVEN WORSE THE SECOND NIGHT. WHEN I WENT TO INSERT THE REVISION ON MY THIRD LAYOVER; I FOUND THAT IT WAS MISSING; AND NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. I WAS UNABLE TO INSERT IT UNTIL I GOT BACK TO HOUSTON AND COLLECTED ANOTHER COPY. HOW DISCOVERED: AN FAA INSPECTOR GOT ON MY FLT IN SNA; INSPECTED MY MANUAL; AND DETERMINED (AFTER SOME CONFUSION ON HIS PART) THAT MY MANUAL WAS NOT UP-TO-DATE. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS: I GOT ANOTHER COPY OF REVISION #27 AS SOON AS I GOT BACK TO HOUSTON AND INSERTED IT IMMEDIATELY. HUMAN PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS: I WAS STILL NOT FEELING WELL WHEN I CAME BACK TO WORK. I WAS FIT TO FLY. BUT IT SLOWED ME DOWN WHEN IT CAME TO PUTTING THE REQUIRED REVISION IN MY MANUAL.
