Narrative
THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENED WHILE TAXIING THE CESSNA 340 XXX FROM THE AREA WHERE WE HANGAR THE ACFT ON RAMP C TO THE SE RAMP WHERE WE KEEP OUR OFFICES. I TAXIED WITH A CLRNC OFF RAMP C ON TXWY C UP TO AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 31. I WAITED ANXIOUSLY FOR ABOUT 6-8 MINS WHILE I WATCHED 2 CESSNA 172'S DOING TOUCH-AND-GOES FROM A FLT SCHOOL ON OUR ARPT. I SAID TO THE TWR 'THIS IS TWIN CESSNA XXX; I WILL BE A LIFEGUARD FLT OUT. I NEED TO GET TO THE SE RAMP.' DURING THIS TIME THE FIRST C-172 HAD LANDED AND WAS PARKED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RWY ON TXWY C; I SUPPOSED DOING THEIR AFTER LNDG CHKLIST. THE GND CTLR REPLIED 'TAXI UP BEHIND THE CESSNA; HOLD SHORT. I REPLIED 'XXX; THANKS' AND ADDED ABOUT 50-60 PERCENT PWR AND BRISKLY CROSSED THE RWY NOTICING THE SECOND C-172 ON A R BASE ABOUT 1 1/2 MI FROM THE ARPT. AFTER XING THE CESSNA IN FRONT OF ME; TAXIED AND ALL WAS QUIET. I SAT THERE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND SAID 'XXX; MAY I TAXI TO THE SE RAMP.' THE CTLR RESPONDED 'XXX; TAXI TO THE RAMP.' AFTER LOADING UP; I FILED FOR MY LIFEGUARD PART 135 AIR TAXI FLT AND MYSELF AND THE FLT NURSE GOT IN THE ACFT AND HEADED OUT FOR DEP. ON TWR I WAS GIVEN A PHONE NUMBER AND ASKED TO CALL THE TWR WHEN I GOT TO MY DEST. ABOUT 1 1/2 HRS LATER; I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH THE TWR CHIEF ON DUTY. HE WAS NOT VERY HAPPY. DURING OUR PHONE CONVERSATION I FOUND OUT THAT WHEN I HEARD 'TAXI UP BEHIND THE CESSNA; HOLD SHORT' I REPLIED 'XXX; THANKS' AND ADDED A LOT OF PWR TO SCOOT ME ACROSS. DURING THIS TIME THE CTLR (ACCORDING TO THE TWR CHIEF) WAS EXCLAIMING OVER THE RADIO; HOLD SHORT; HOLD SHORT; BECAUSE I WAS NOT USING A HEAD SET AND WAS WORKING OVER THE SPEAKER IN THE CEILING OF THE ACFT AND HAD ALL OF THAT PWR ADDED. WITH ALL OF THE NOISE I COULDN'T HEAR HER DESPERATE CALLS TO ME. WHEN I ARRIVED ON THE OTHER SIDE WITH THE PWR AT IDLE; I COULD THEN HEAR THE RADIO AND COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHE HADN'T CLRED ME TO THE RAMP. I WAS OBLIVIOUS TO THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A RWY INCURSION. THESE WERE THE PROBS AS I SEE THEM: I SHOULD HAVE BEEN WEARING MY HEAD SET SO I COULD HEAR THE RADIO MORE CLRLY AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SO ANXIOUS FOR MY XING CLRNC BECAUSE I HEARD SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WAS REALLY SAID TO ME.
