A CAPT CITED FATIGUE AS A PRIMARY CAUSAL FACTOR IN HIS FAILURE TO HOLD SHORT AFTER RECEIVING 'HOLD SHORT' INSTRUCTIONS.

Narrative

AFTER LNDG RWY 35R AT DFW; WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF PARALLEL RWY 35L. I INADVERTENTLY TAXIED PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 35L; STOPPING WITH THE ACFT'S NOSE AT THE EDGE OF RWY 35L. FATIGUE WAS PRIMARILY THE CAUSE OF THIS SIT. THE REST PERIOD BEFORE; WAS VERY SHORT; 9 HRS; AND SLEEP WAS INTERMITTENT. THIS SCHEDULE WAS FOLLOWED BY A 12 PLUS HR DUTY PERIOD; 4 LEGS; AND TURB WX. I REALIZE THAT EXTREME FATIGUE IS COMMONPLACE IN TODAYS FLYING ENVIRONMENT AND MUST BE DEALT WITH. HENCEFORTH; I INTEND TO STRESS EXTRA VIGILANCE THE NEXT TIME I AM CONFRONTED WITH THIS SIT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 298220: I TOLD THE CAPT I WAS GONNA TALK TO RAMP CTL FOR PARKING INSTRUCTIONS; AND ASKED HIM TO LISTEN TO TWR; AS I WOULD BE OFF FREQ. I TALKED TO RAMP CTL AND AS I LOOKED UP WE WERE TAXIING ONTO RWY 35L. I SWITCHED TO TWR AND HEARD '...I TOLD YOU TO HOLD SHORT RWY 35L.' I ACKNOWLEDGED WITH 'ROGER' AND AT THAT TIME HE TOLD US TO CLR RWY 35L ON A REVERSE HIGH SPD. THERE WAS AN ACFT IN TKOF POS ON RWY 35L.
