FLC MISUNDERSTAND THE FREQ GIVEN BY APCH CTL AND USED A TWR FREQ INSTEAD.

Narrative

WITH ORD APCH AT APPROX XA10Z; WE COPIED THAT WE WERE CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY 22L; MAINTAIN 4000 FT TO KENIL; MONITOR 120.75; AND RPT LAIKE. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT WAS MADE AND LAIKE WAS RPTED AT 5.7 DME. TWR ROGERED; THEN QUERIED US AGAIN AS TO OUR POS. I REPLIED LAIKE; INSIDE LAIKE INTXN. TWR; AFTER A PAUSE; GAVE US FREQ 132.7. CONTACT WAS MADE; AND WE WERE CLRED TO LAND. THE REMAINDER OF THE APCH AND LNDG WAS NORMAL. UPON CLRING RWY 22L; TWR GAVE US TAXI INSTRUCTION TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 27L AND CONTACT TWR AT 120.75 PAST THE LAKE. IT BECAME CLR TO US THEN THAT A MISTAKE WAS MADE IN THE INITIAL HDOF FOR APCH TO ORD TWR. EITHER WE ACKNOWLEDGED SOMEONE ELSE'S CLRNC; TWR GAVE US THE WRONG FREQ; OR I TUNED IN THE WRONG FREQ. I WAS SPRING LOADED TO TUNE IN 120.75 AS DEPICTED ON THE APCH PLATE AND MAY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE IN HEARING. I BELIEVE I READ BACK THE FREQ; BUT DO NOT RECALL FOR SURE. AT THAT TIME; APCH AND TWR WERE BOTH EXTREMELY BUSY; HANDLING AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF TFC. THE WX WAS LOUSY WITH VERY HIGH; GUSTY WINDS AND WINDSHEAR RPTED. AS A RESULT; MANY READBACKS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS WERE BEING IGNORED AND OR ABBREVIATED. WHAT NEEDS TO BE POINTED OUT THE MOST OUT OF ALL THIS IS THE CONFUSION BTWN LAIKE APCH FIX AND THE LAKE; MAYBE THE LAKE NEEDS SOME OTHER NAME SO THERE IS NO QUESTION AS TO THE POS OF THE ACFT BEING COMMUNICATED WITH.
