FLC TAXIS AIRPLANE AGAINST JETWAY.
Narrative
I GAVE THE ACFT TO CAPT AFTER LNDG AT A SLOW SPD NEAR THE END OF THE RWY. HE TURNED OFF TO THE R WHILE I CONTACTED GND. OUR GATE X WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US AND WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO THE GATE. I CALLED OPS AND SAID WE WERE DOWN AND CONFIRMING GATE X. NO ANSWER; BUT I SAID 'WE SEE THE GUIDE MAN.' WE FIGURED THAT THERE WERE NO GATE CHANGES SINCE HE WAS STANDING AT THE GATE LEAD IN LINE READY FOR US. AS WE TAXIED IN I MENTIONED THAT EVERYTHING ON THE R SIDE WAS CLR AND IN THEIR PAINTED BOXES AND GUARDED THE BRAKES JUST IN CASE. WE ARE MOVING SLOWER THAN NORMAL AND CAPT SAID TO SHUT DOWN THE #2 ENG. AS I DID THAT; I WATCHED FOR A GOOD SHUTDOWN AND WATCHED THE GUIDE MAN AND MY SIDE OF THE ACFT. WE WERE GOING SLOW ON THE YELLOW LINE; THE GUIDE MAN STARTED TO CROSS HIS WANDS; BUT WHEN HIS HANDS ARE ABOUT 6 INCHES APART HE FROZE THEM THERE LIKE WE NEEDED TO PULL UP SOME MORE. WE ARE NOT MOVING FORWARD AND HE CLOSES HIS HANDS/WANDS (IN A DISGUSTED LOOK TO ME LIKE SCREW IT THAT'S CLOSE ENOUGH) AND LOOKS TOWARDS THE JETWAY. TO THIS POINT I FELT NOTHING UNUSUAL BUT THE CAPT SAID IT FELT LIKE WE BUMPED SOMETHING. NO COM FROM THE RAMP; TUG OPERATOR OR THE OPS PEOPLE WHILE WE SIT WAY TOO LONG. CAPT HAD ME START THE APU AND PWR THE BUS THEN SHUT DOWN THE #1 ENG. NOW THE ACFT SWAYS CONSIDERABLY SEVERAL TIMES AND I REALIZE THAT THEY ARE YANKING THE JETWAY OFF THE ACFT. TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT NOW. STILL NOBODY SAYS ANYTHING TO US SO I TRY TO CALL RAMP TO TELL THEM SOMETHING IS WRONG WHILE THE CAPT GREETS THE PAX AS THEY GET OFF. NO ANSWER. LATER THE FLT ATTENDANTS SAID THAT THEY ALSO DID NOT FEEL ANYTHING UNUSUAL TAXIING TO THE GATE. DEPLANED ALL THE PAX AND LOOKED AT THE ENG. A HOLE IN THE COWLING. I PERSONALLY THINK REMOVING THE JETWAY CAUSED MOST OF THE DAMAGE. WE ARE PARKED PERFECTLY AT A CROSS SPOT ON THE YELLOW LINE WHERE THERE IS NO ACFT IDENTIFIER NEXT TO IT (E.G.; 737; 727; ETC). MAYBE A POORLY PAINTED CROSS LINE DESIGN FOR GUIDE MEN! THE JETWAY IS IN ITS PAINTED BOX AND LOOKS LIKE IT WAS ALWAYS WITHIN ITS BOX WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE CALL THE DUTY MGR; CREW DESK; ETC; TO TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED.
