Narrative

MY CAPT WAS FLYING THE AIRPLANE AND I WAS OFF THE RADIO HANDLING COMPANY REQUIRED CALLS WHEN I LOOKED UP AND NOTICED THAT WE HAD FLOWN THROUGH THE INTERCEPT OF THE 199 DEGS TO HUO FROM THE 128 DEG RADIAL OFF HNK. WE FLEW THROUGH BY ABOUT 6 OR 7 MI. I THINK THE BIGGEST CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS FATIGUE ON BOTH OUR PARTS. THE REGIONAL AIRLINES JUST DON'T RESPECT THE FACT THAT PLTS ARE FLYING HALF ASLEEP. I WAS ALSO SICK THAT DAY AND IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT I COULDN'T JUST CALL IN SICK WITHOUT BEING CALLED TO THE CHIEF PLT'S OFFICE. WE PLTS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO NOT FLY WHEN WE ARE TOO SICK OR ARE TOO TIRED. HOWEVER; I HAVE NEVER CALLED IN BECAUSE I'M ON MY FIRST YR PROBATION AND I KNOW THAT I WOULD GET INTO TROUBLE EVEN CALLING IN ONCE OR TWICE. PLUS MY AIRLINE REQUIRES THAT YOU PRESENT A DOCTOR'S NOTE IF YOU DO CALL IN. WELL; I MAKE $1000 A MONTH BEFORE TAXES LIVING IN NEW YORK AND YET THEY THINK I CAN AFFORD A $100 DOCTOR BILL JUST BECAUSE I HAVE A HEAD COLD. SO I'LL FLY SICK. THE FAA ALLOWS THIS PRACTICE OF NOT PUNISHING THE AIRLINES ON ISSUES LIKE THIS AND UNTIL THEY DO; PLTS WHO SHOULDN'T BE IN THE COCKPIT WILL BE.
