NON ADHERENCE TO ATC INSTRUCTION BY CFI. TRAINING IN PROGRESS.

Narrative

WHILE ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 29 (100 FT AGL) THE LCL CTLR AT BDR ASKED US FOR 'MINIMUM TIME ON THE RWY AFTER LNDG FOR OTHER ACFT BEHIND YOU ON FINAL...PLAN YOUR TURNOFF ON TXWY H....' I WAS THE INSTRUCTOR; DEMONSTRATING A SHORT- FIELD LNDG TO THE STUDENT; AND ACKNOWLEDGED THE CTLR'S REQUEST (INSTRUCTION?) WITH A 'ROGER.' AFTER LNDG; JUST SECOND LATER; WE WERE EASILY ABLE TO MAKE TXWY A; JUST BEFORE TXWY H. BECAUSE THE CTLR HAD ASKED FOR 'MINIMUM TIME ON THE RWY;' AND BECAUSE I HAD NO IDEA HOW FAR BEHIND ME THE OTHER ACFT WAS; I MADE THE FIRST POSSIBLE EXIT ONTO TXWY A. I THEN SAW ANOTHER SMALL ACFT ON TXWY A; HOLDING SHORT FOR DEP; PREVIOUSLY UNSEEN AS I WAS ON THE R SIDE OF THE ACFT AND MY VIEW WAS PARTIALLY BLOCKED. WE EASILY PASSED BY THIS ACFT AS WE EXITED THE RWY ONTO TXWY A; BUT THE GND CTLR INDICATED THAT WE HAD NOT FOLLOWED ATC INSTRUCTIONS BY EXITING ON TXWY A INSTEAD OF TXWY H. HE STATED TXWYS ARE 1-WAY. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE ACFT BEHIND US ON FINAL! AT NO POINT WAS THERE A HAZARD TO THE ACFT HOLDING ON TXWY A; AND OUR TAXI SPDS WERE NORMAL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS. I APOLOGIZED FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDING; BUT PERHAPS ATC COULD PROVIDE THESE INSTRUCTIONS/REQUESTS AT LESS CRITICAL MOMENTS OF FLT!
