Narrative
ON MAY/XX/95 I FLEW A PART 135 TRIP WHICH RETURNED TO BASE AT A BLOCK-IN TIME OF PM00 HRS AND A DUTY OFF OF AM30 HRS. I HAD BEEN AWAY FROM HOME FOR A VERY BUSY 5 DAYS. SHORTLY AFTER GETTING HOME; I RECEIVED A CALL FROM ONE OF OUR DISPATCHERS ASKING IF I WOULD TAKE A PART 91 TRIP IN THE MORNING WITH A 1/2 HR SHOW OF AM00 HRS FOR A AM30 HR DEP. I ACCEPTED THE PART 91 TRIP. AFTER FINISHING THAT TRIP; WHICH ENDED IN MADISON; IN (IMS) AND DURING OUR POSTFLT; DISPATCHER CALLED AND ASKED US TO TAKE A PART 135 TRIP FROM LEX TO LIT. THE DISPATCHER SAID WE HAD TO DEPART FOR LEX IMMEDIATELY TO MAKE THE TRIP ON TIME. HE WAS VERY HURRIED IN HIS VOICE. QUICKLY THINKING OF TIME; THE PM00 HR BLOCK-IN TIME CAME TO MIND AND WITH THE 1/2 HR SHOW OF AM00 HRS I THOUGHT I HAD THE PROPER REST TO ACCEPT THE TRIP. WHY THE BLOCK-IN TIME AND NOT THE DUTY TIME OFF CAME TO MIND I REALLY DON'T KNOW. WITH THE LONG WK I HAD HAD AND THE HURRIED MANNER OF THE DISPATCHER; THAT'S THE TIME I REMEMBERED FIRST. THAT EVENING ANOTHER DISPATCHER CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT THEY HAD CAUGHT THE MISTAKE OF HAVING ONLY 9.5 HRS REST FOR THE PART 135 TRIP. I THINK THAT OPS THAT OPERATE BOTH PART 91 AND PART 135 SHOULD HAVE THE SAME REST REQUIREMENT FOR PART 91 TRIPS THAT THEY DO FOR PART 135 TRIPS; THAT WAY THERE WILL NEVER BY ANY QUESTION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THERE WAS ENOUGH REST TIME FOR A PART 135 TRIP.
