ACR LGT SUFFERS ACFT DAMAGE DURING RAMP OP PUSHBACK.
Narrative
THIS STATEMENT IS GIVEN AT THE REQUEST OF AIRLINES CONCERNING THE OP OF FLT AT ATL ON MAY/XX/95. I SERVED AS CAPT AND PIC OF THAT FLT. I WAS ASSISTED IN THE COCKPIT BY FO. PRIOR TO PUSHBACK; THE TUG DRIVER NOTIFIED ME THAT THE GND CREW WAS READY FOR PUSHBACK. I ADVISED HIM TO STANDBY. SUBSEQUENT TO THAT CONVERSATION; THE GATE AGENT ENTERED THE COCKPIT AND DELIVERED THE PREFLT PAPER WORK. AS THE GATE AGENT LEFT THE COCKPIT; A FLT ATTENDANT INDICATED TO ME THAT THE CABIN WAS READY FOR PUSHBACK. THE TUG DRIVER CALLED AGAIN; REQUESTING TO BEGIN THE PUSHBACK. UPON RECEIVING CLRNC FROM RAMP TWR; AND AFTER ASCERTAINING THAT THE EXTERIOR DOOR WARNING LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED; I TOLD THE TUG DRIVER THAT WE WERE READY FOR PUSHBACK. SHORTLY AFTER THE PUSHBACK BEGAN; THE ACFT CAME TO A STOP. I ASKED THE TUG DRIVER WHAT HAD HAPPENED. HE RESPONDED THAT THE ACFT HAD IMPACTED THE JETWAY. THE TUG DRIVER ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE WING WALKERS HAD FAILED TO PROVIDE HIM WITH ANY INDICATION THAT THE ACFT WAS NOT CLR WHEN HE BEGAN THE PUSH.
