FO OF AN SMT ACR QUESTIONS THE ACTUAL 'TAXI IN TO THE GATE' CLRNC DUE TO AN INTERMITTENT COCKPIT INTERPHONE COM.
Narrative
DURING MY IOE LAST WEEK AT DFW ARPT; WE WERE TAXIING IN FROM A FLT TO OUR RAMP. AS WE TAXIED IN; THE CTLR GAVE US CLRNC TO TAXI IN TO OUR RAMP. THE CAPT AND I WERE HAVING COM PROBS SINCE OUR ILS SYS WAS INTERMITTENT. HE STARTED TO TAXI AND ASKED ME WHAT THE CLRNC WAS. HE SAID 'WE'RE CLRED ALL THE WAY IN; RIGHT?' THROUGH AN INTERMITTENT PUSH-TO-TALK SWITCH. I HEARD HIM THOUGH SINCE THERE WAS NOT TOO MUCH OUTSIDE NOISE AT THIS MOVEMENT. HE KEPT TAXIING AS HE ASKED ME THIS THOUGH. SO BY THE TIME I HAD TIME TO ANSWER HIM; HE WAS ALREADY THROUGH THE INTXN AND ON THE RAMP. NOW IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT I WAS NOT SURE WHAT THE GND CTLR HAD ACTUALLY SAID. THIS IS SAD BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH GOING ON THAT I COULDN'T RECALL WHETHER HE WANTED ME TO HOLD SHORT OR TAXI THROUGH. THE AREA WAS CLR AND THE GND CTLR DID NOT SAY ANYTHING SO I'M ASSUMING EVERYTHING WAS OK. I SPOKE WITH MY CAPT AFTERWARDS AND HE SAID THE AREA WAS CLR AND THE CTLR WOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING IF THERE WAS A PROB. IN RETROSPECT; I THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD IDEA FOR ME TO HAVE THE CAPT STOP THE ACFT THE MOMENT I WAS NOT SURE OF THE CLRNC. FACTORS THAT AFFECTED THIS SIT WERE THE COM PROBS AND THE RELATIVELY BUSY TIME OF THE DAY AT DFW.
