NON COMPLIANCE WITH TKOF CLRNC; HDG DEV.

Narrative

THE FSS (RADIO) READ US BACK A TKOF CLRNC ON THE TAXI OUT. THE FO COPIED DOWN THE CLRNC. THE CLRNC WAS RWY HDG TO 5000 FT MSL. THE FO DID COPY DOWN AND READ BACK THE CORRECT CLRNC. I (THE CAPT) DIDN'T LISTEN AS THIS WAS GOING ON. WE COMPLETED THE CHKLIST. ON THE LINE-UP CHK; I SAID WE'RE CLRED R TURN TO JOIN THE AIRWAY 266 DEGS; 41 DME; NESTO INTXN; UP TO 5000 FT. THE FO DIDN'T CORRECT ME. AFTER TKOF; I CLBED TO 3000 FT (TO COMPLY WITH NOISE ABATEMENT PROCS); THEN TURNED TO JOIN THE 266 DEG RADIAL (270 DEG HDG). THE FO WENT OFF THE #1 RADIO AND CALLED OUR TKOF TIMES IN TO THE ATTONA STATION (AS PER OUR CHKLIST/PROCS). THE CTR ASKED OUR HDG. I ASKED THE FO; ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE ON A HDG? HE DIDN'T REPLY UNTIL I ASKED HIM 2 MORE TIMES. AND THE CTR AGAIN ASKED OUR HDG TO WHICH WE THEN TOLD HIM 270 DEGS; CORRECTING BACK TO A S HDG. HE SOUNDED IRRITATED AND ASSIGNED A DIFFERENT HDG AND ALT. THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE SAID TO US BY THE CTLR. THE PROB WAS WITH NOT PAYING ATTN BY MY FO AND MYSELF TO EACH OTHER'S CLRNCS. AS FAR AS WE KNOW; THIS WAS AN ASSIGNED CLRNC SOLELY FOR SPACING (METERING) ACFT INTO PITTSBURGH. NO OTHER CONFLICT; NO TFC PROBS; NO AVOIDANCE; ETC. P.S. WE WERE BOTH FLYING UNDER 'REDUCED REST.'
