FLC TOOK OFF OVER GROSS FOR THE PERFORMANCE CAPABILITY OF THE ACFT ON RWY USED.

Narrative

RUNNING BEHIND SCHEDULE; USED RWY 28 FOR DEP. FO DID NOT FIGURE WTS FOR THAT RWY PRIOR TO DEP. TAXI WAS QUICK. HE ASSUMED WE WERE OK FOR THE RWY AT FULL PWR. USED FLAPS 1 DEG; OVER RWY LIMIT BY 9500 LBS. ROTATED LAST 1000 FT OF RWY BAD COCKPIT RESOURCE MGMNT ON MY PART; MADE THE FO FEEL PRESSURED TO HURRY TO MAKE UP TIME. SHOULD HAVE REALIZED WE WERE HVY FOR THAT RWY BAD SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR CAPT SAID THEY WERE FLYING A B- 737-200. THERE WERE 4 AIRPLANES WAITING TO TKOF ON THE RWY PLANNED FOR AND NO ONE WAITING TO TKOF ON RWY 28; 6015 FT LONG. SO ON TAXI OUT; GOT CLRNC TO RWY 28. THE PERFORMANCE WAS DISCUSSED BUT NO ONE ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME TO LOOK THE PERFORMANCE UP. THE FIRST 2/3 OF THE RWY IS UPHILL AND THE LAST 1/3 IS DOWNHILL. BY THE TIME THEY WERE OVER THE HUMP TO SEE HOW LITTLE RWY THEY HAD LEFT; THEY WERE AT 100 KTS AND A SUCCESSFUL ABORT AT THAT TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN QUESTIONABLE. THAT'S WHEN THE CREW KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. ENRTE; GETTING INTO REVIEWING THE COMPUTATIONS; THE CREW DISCOVERED THEY WERE OVER GROSS FOR PERFORMANCE LIMITATION ON THAT RWY AT THE GIVEN TEMP BY 9000 LBS.
