Narrative
TOOK OFF AT XA15 FROM GRAND STRAND ARPT TO MYRTLE BEACH JET PORT. TWR CTLR LISTED HRS AT MYRTLE BEACH JET PORT FROM XA00 AM TO XB00 AM. ACFT LANDED ON ACTIVE RWY 17 BY AWOS. ANNOUNCED BASE AND FINAL OVER TWR FREQ WITH NO RESPONSES. AFTER LNDG AND PICKING UP PAX ARPT SECURITY ASKED US TO CALL THE TWR. THE CAPT WAS TALKING WITH GND CTL AND ASKED WHAT TIME TWR OPENED? THE REPLY WAS XCAM. WHEN I RETURNED TO MY FLT POS I SAW THAT I HAD BEEN TALKING ON 126.50 FREQ WHEN THE TWR FREQ WAS 126.05. I TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ERROR. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT OF ANY KIND. IT IS A VERY SHORT FLT BTWN THE 2 ARPTS AND WORKLOAD IS HIGH. IT IS NOT A VERY GOOD REASON FOR THE ERROR I KNOW; BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO RPT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE CAPT SAID THAT THE CREW WAS FLYING A W WIND 1124 ON A POSITIONING FLT TO MYR. THIS IS A VERY SHORT FLT AND IT HAS A HIGH WORKLOAD OF CHKLISTS AND RPTS AND; IN THIS CASE; ATTEMPTS AT TA'S. THE CREW DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THEIR ERROR UNTIL A SHORT TIME AFTER ARR WHEN ARPT SECURITY REQUESTED A CALL TO THE TWR. THE ATCT LCL CTLR WAS PLEASANT AND INFORMATIVE. THE CAPT HAD ALREADY DISCOVERED THE INCORRECT FREQ WHEN HE CHKED IT AFTER TALKING TO SECURITY. NO CONTACT OTHER THAN THE TWR WITH THE FAA TO THIS DATE.
