Narrative

WHILE FLYING A SCHEDULED ACR FLT (MD-80) FROM LGA TO CHS; WE RECEIVED CLRNC VIA OUR ACARS TO FLY THE LGA 6 DEP CONEY CLB TO THE WHITE INTXN THEN AS FILED. WHEN GIVING A PARTIAL (ABBREVIATED) READBACK TO CLRNC DELIVERY; THE FO READ WHITESTONE CLB. CLRNC DELIVERY DID NOT QUESTION THE READBACK. WHILE TAXIING OUT I SET UP FOR THE WHITESTONE CLB VERSUS THE CONEY CLB AND QUESTIONED THE FO IF WE WERE CLRED THE WHITESTONE CLB TO WHICH HE RESPONDED TO THE AFFIRMATIVE. AFTER TKOF AT 2.5 DME ON THE LGA 175 DEG HDG. I STARTED THE L TURN TO 040 DEGS. AFTER APPROX 40 DEGS OF TURN; DEP CTL ASKED US IF WE WERE GIVEN THE WHITESTONE CLB TO WHICH WE RESPONDED 'YES.' SEVERAL MINS LATER AFTER BEING VECTORED S; THEY ASKED US TO CHK OUR ACARS CLRNC MESSAGE AT WHICH TIME WE DISCOVERED ON PAGE 2 THAT WE HAD ACTUALLY RECEIVED A CONEY CLB. I ADMITTED THE ERROR BUT QUESTIONED THE NON RESPONSE ON THE WHITESTONE CLB READBACK. THERE WAS NO AIR TFC CONFLICT AT THE TIME SO THE CTLR TOLD US NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. (END OF ATC DISCUSSION OF THE MATTER.) I THINK THE CONFUSION ON OUR PART WAS FROM THE FACT THAT WE WERE CLRED TO THE WHITE INTXN AND THAT THE CLB TRANSITION CONEY CLB APPEARED ON PAGE 2 OF OUR ACARS MESSAGE SCREEN.
