ACR X MISPROGRAMMED FMS FLEW WRONG DIRECTION.

Narrative

DURING A NORMAL FLT FROM PIT TO ISP WE WERE RERTED. THE RERTE WAS FROM STW TO FLY THE 109 DEG RADIAL TO LENDY INTXN. UPON PROGRAMMING THE FMC I TYPED IN LINDY. THE FMC ACCEPTED THE CHANGE. WE CHKED THE MAP TO BE SURE THAT THE 109 DEG RADIAL LED TO LENDY; WHICH I DID BUT I DID NOT NOTICE THE SPELLING; I JUST SAW THE INTXN NAME. WE CHKED THE PLAN MODE OF OUR EFIS TO BE SURE AND THE RTE LOOKED CORRECT. UPON REACHING STW THE ACFT TURNED N. WE WERE CONTACTED ABOUT A MIN LATER BY ZNY. WHEN THE ACFT TURNED N WE WERE CAUGHT BY SURPRISE AND WERE IN THE PROCESS OF CHKING FOR THE PROB. CTR SAID THERE WAS NO PROB AND TO TURN R AND PROCEED DIRECT TO LGA. I BELIEVE THAT 2 INTXNS IN SUCH A CLOSE PROX TO EACH OTHER SHOULD NEVER HAVE THE SAME NAME NO MATTER THE SPELLING. WE WERE VERY BUSY WHEN THE RERTE WAS ISSUED AND THIS ALSO LED TO THE CONFUSION. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 308925: ENRTE FROM PIT TO ISP WE WERE GIVEN A COMPLETE RERTE. INCLUDED IN THIS RERTE WAS A INTXN 'LINDY' LOCATED ON STW 109 DEG RADIAL (I BELIEVE) WE WERE RUSHED TO GET THE NEW RTE IN THE FMC AND DEAL WITH A BUSY ZNY. WE GOT THE NEW RTE IN WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 'LINDY' INTXN WHICH WE COULD NOT FIND ON THE CHARTS; SO WE JUST PUT LINDY IN AFTER STW AND THE FMC TOOK IT.
