PVT PLT OF AN SMA SEL FAILED TO STOP TAXIING AT THE RWY HOLD SHORT LINE AND IN ADDITION TOOK OFF ON THE WRONG RWY.

Narrative

ON JUL/XX/95 AT ABOUT XY00 AM AT HGR ARPT; I TAXIED PAST THE HOLD LINES FOR AN INTXN DEP FROM TXWY C TO RWY 27. THEN I DEPARTED RWY 9. I ALSO DIDN'T CHANGE FROM GND FREQ TO TWR. HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED. IT WAS AROUND 97 DEGS AT APPROX XX30 IN THE MORNING AND HIGH HUMIDITY. I STARTED MY ENG AND DID MY RUNUP. THE OIL TEMP WAS STEADY CLBING. I STARTED RUSHING THINGS. I GOT MY CLRNC TO TXWY C TO THE INTXN OF RWY 27 AND RWY 9 FOR AN INTXN DEP. I WAS THE ONLY AIRPLANE AROUND. SO AS I TAXIED PAST THE HOLD LINES I ASKED FOR CLRNC ON GND FREQ AND WAS YELLED AT BY THE CTLR TO GET ON THE TWR FREQ AND GET BACK TO THE HOLD LINES. I DID A 180 DEG TURN AND TAXIED BACK 25 FT TO THE HOLD LINES AND CALLED THE TWR. HE CLRED ME FOR IMMEDIATE DEP ON RWY 27 AND I TURNED L DOWN RWY 9. ABOUT 1/3 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RWY I REALIZED THAT I WAS DEPARTING RWY 9. AT THIS POINT I WAS COMMITTED SO I HAD TO KEEP GOING. I TOOK OFF AND SUBSEQUENTLY I WAS YELLED AT BY THE CTLR AGAIN. IN RETROSPECT; I THINK THE COMBINATION OF THE HEAT; MY HURRIED RUNUP; AND THE CTLR GETTING VERY VERBAL RAISED MY ANXIETY LEVEL TO A POINT OF CONFUSION. I ALSO THINK WHEN THE SAME CTLR IS WORKING GND AND TWR AND XMITTING ON BOTH FREQS THIS MAKES IT EASIER TO FORGET TO SWITCH FREQS. NEXT TIME I GET CONFUSED I WILL STOP FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO CALM DOWN AND UNDERSTAND WHERE I AM AND WHERE I AM GOING.
